Definitions

  • the invention relates to a floor cleaning device with a hood-shaped housing that is open towards its underside, closed laterally and on its upper side, and a spray arm that can be rotated about a vertical axis therein and has at least one outlet for a cleaning medium directed toward the open underside of the housing, wherein At least one opening is arranged on the top of the housing, through which air is sucked in from the surroundings into the interior of the housing.
  • Openings in the top of the housing allow ambient air to enter the interior of the housing, which is sucked in by the rotational movement of the spray arm and is expelled by the spray arm through the open underside of the housing. This forms an air cushion below the housing, which lifts the housing and keeps it at a distance from the surface to be cleaned.
  • This air cushion effect is permanently provided in the known floor cleaning device, since ambient air is always sucked in through the openings in the housing when the spray arm rotates.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention in a floor cleaning device of the type described in the opening paragraph in that the openings can be completely or partially closed.
  • the user therefore has the possibility, through the different opening of the openings, to adjust the amount of air drawn in during operation as the user wishes, it is also possible to completely close the openings and thereby completely prevent the air from being drawn in. This gives the user the option of dosing or completely switching off the air cushion effect.

In both cases, the bearing shaft 8 can also be adjustable in height, but this is not explained in more detail.
  • the cleaning liquid is supplied via a feed pipe 12 which opens radially into the bearing bore 7 and which is connected to an annular space 13 which surrounds a radially recessed section 14 of the bearing shaft 8. This annular space 13 is sealed by seals 15 at both opposite ends relative to the inner wall of the bearing bore 7 and is connected via a radial bore 16 to an inner bore 17, which in turn is connected to the outlet nozzles 11 via longitudinal bores 18 in the spray arms 10.
  • the top 5 of the housing 2 is ribbed and thus has a plurality of mutually parallel, immediately adjacent, alternately outwardly and inwardly open grooves 19 which are parallel to the feed pipe 12 and are rectilinear ( Figure 2). • openings 22 are provided in the partition walls 20, each of which connects an outwardly facing groove 19 and the adjacent inwardly facing groove 19 and thus forms a flow path through which ambient air can reach the interior 9 of the housing 2 ( Figure 6).
  • Such openings 22 are missing in other partial areas 23 of the upper side 5, so in these partial areas 23 the partition walls 20 completely separate adjacent grooves 19 from one another, so that in these partial areas 23 there are no flow paths which allow the suction of ambient air (FIG. 5).
  • the sections 21 and 23 are each formed by adjacent circular sectors which extend between the bearing bush 6 on the one hand and the side wall 3 on the other and which alternate with one another, the opening angle of such a sector-shaped section is 30 ° in the exemplary embodiment shown.

  • this closure plate 25 there are sector-shaped cutouts 26 with an opening angle which corresponds to the opening angle of the partial areas 21 and 23; these cutouts 26 are separated from one another by closed partial areas 27 which also extend over an opening angle of approximately 30 °.
  • the spray arms 10 carry wing-shaped widenings 30 which, when the spray arms rotate in the manner of a propeller or fan, produce an air flow which directs ambient air into the interior 9 through the openings 22 through the openings 22 and then this ambient air through the open underside 4 of the Releases housing 2 again. This forms an air cushion in the area of the interior 9, through which the floor cleaning device 1 is kept at a distance from the surface to be cleaned.
  • This air inflow can be controlled in that the closure plate 25 is brought into different angular positions by means of the pin 28, in which it covers the open partial areas 21 more or less and thereby changes the inflow cross-sections available for the air flow.
