Definitions
- the invention relates to a locking mechanism for a bracket arrangement for braces.
- Braces permanently attached to a set of teeth are attached to teeth by means of bracket arrangements.
- the bracket arrangements are small-scale elements that are glued, for example, to the surface of a tooth.
- the front incisors are primarily suitable, which have a sufficiently large tooth surface on which the bracket can be firmly attached.
- the posterior molars are surrounded by small rings that are fixed to the tooth with a special cement.
- brackets and rings are introduced into the dentition, to which the brace wire is fixed with wires or other, bulky fastening elements.
- the brace wire For the purpose of correcting the tooth position, the brace wire must be re-tensioned from time to time or completely replaced.
- the connections between the braces and the bracket arrangement loosened and repeatedly fixed.
- This work is very time-consuming, since a short piece of wire must be used on each bracket arrangement in order to fasten the brace wire to it.
- These time-consuming and time-consuming maintenance and repair work on the braces are very stressful for the patient wearing the braces and, moreover, involve high costs due to the time-consuming work that must be carried out by an orthodontist.
- the object of the invention is to create a compact bracket arrangement which is designed with a shape that is as free from edges as possible and which allows very simple handling, so that a brace wire can be quickly and easily re-tensioned and renewed.
- a new type of locking mechanism is to be specified, which enables simple and reliable handling when opening and closing the bracket arrangement and guarantees a secure fit of the brace wire.
- the closure mechanism according to the invention for a bracket arrangement has a bracket base which can be fastened directly on a tooth surface and in which a recess for receiving a brace wire is made, and a bracket cover which also has a recess for receiving the brace wire.
- the Closure mechanism according to the invention is characterized in that locking elements are provided on the bracket base and corresponding counter-locking elements are provided on the bracket lid for releasably firmly attaching the bracket base to the bracket lid, so that the brace wire can be clamped between the bracket base and bracket lid.
- the bracket cover By providing a snap-in connection for joining the bracket cover to the bracket base, the bracket cover can be firmly attached to it simply by pressing it onto the bracket base, the connection between the bracket lid and the bracket base being able to be released again. Due to the locking elements according to the invention and the counter-locking elements, no additional fixing elements, such as e.g. Wires, necessary which are on the one hand difficult to handle and on the other hand can be uncomfortable for the patient wearing the braces, since they often have sharp tips and edges that can injure the lips and cheek meat in the mouth.
- wires e.g. Wires
- the bracket arrangement according to the invention can be designed with a completely edge-free shape, since the fixing elements, the latching elements and counter-latching elements are arranged in the inner region of the bracket arrangement.
- the latching elements of the bracket base and the bracket lid are preferably arranged adjacent to the recesses for receiving the dental brace wire, as a result of which a maximum clamping force on the
- Braces wire is exercised. Moreover, when the bracket arrangement is opened, which can be carried out by mutual separation using a suitable lever tool, even with a small NEN opening angle between the bracket cover and bracket base of the braces wire easily accessible and can be easily removed and reinserted.
- the latching elements of the bracket base and the bracket lid are arranged at the edge of the respective elements, and adjacent to the latching elements, an opening leading outwards is made in the bracket base and / or the bracket lid, into which the above called lever tool for releasing the locking connection between the bracket base and the bracket cover can be inserted.
- This opening allows the latching connection between the bracket cover and the bracket base to be released in a simple manner, no or only very slight lateral forces being exerted on the bracket base, which are transmitted to the respective tooth. This means that there is no risk that the connection between the bracket base and the tooth will be affected when the bracket arrangement is opened.
- the bracket cover is arranged on the bracket base as being pivotable about a swivel joint
- Flap formed wherein preferably the swivel joint and the locking elements are arranged diametrically opposite on the bracket base and on the bracket cover.
- a swivel joint it is also possible to provide any other connection between the bracket cover and the bracket base, such as. B. guide elements that allow displacement of the bracket cover on the bracket base, or a releasable locking mechanism or an additional locking mechanism.
- the bracket cover preferably consists of an elastic material, the elasticity of which is selected such that the holding force with which the bracket cover is held on the bracket base is fixed by bracing the bracket lid between the latching elements and the connection formed by the swivel joint or the guide elements.
- the holding force is determined in such a way that, on the one hand, the brace wire is held securely in the long term by the bracket arrangement and, on the other hand, the latching connection between the bracket cover and the bracket base can be released at any time without exerting considerable forces on the tooth on which the Bracket arrangement is attached.
