非水系電解液二次電池
技術分野
本発明は、 非水系電解液二次電池に関する。 詳しくは、 特定の芳香族カーボネ ートを含有する電解液を用いる非水系電解液二次電池に関する。本発明の電池は、 電解液の分解を最小限に抑え、 高い容量が得られると共に、 サイクル特性が優れ ているので、 非水系電解液二次電池の小型化、 高性能化を図ることができる。 背景技術
近年の電気製品の軽量化、 小型化に伴い、 高いエネルギー密度を持つリチウム 二次電池が注目され様々な研究が行われている。 また、 リチウム二次電池の適用 分野の拡大に伴い電池特性の改善も要望されている。
中でも、 金属リチウムを負極とする二次電池は高容量化を達成できる電池とし て古くから盛んに研究が行われているが、 金属リチウムが充放電の繰り返しによ りデンドライ ト状に成長し、 最終的には正極に達して、 電池内部において短絡が 生じてしまうことが実用化を阻む最大の技術的な課題となっている。
そこで負極に、 例えばコークス、 人造黒鉛、 天然黒鉛等のリチウムイオンを吸 蔵放出することが可能な炭素質材料を用いた非水系電解液二次電池が提案されて いる。 この非水系電解液二次電池では、 リチウムが金属状態で存在しないためデ ンドライ 卜の形成が制御され、 電池寿命と安全性を向上する事ができる。
炭素質材料を使用した負極は、 通常、 炭素粉末材料及び必要に応じて導電材(力 一ボンブラック、 アセチレンブラック等) を結着剤溶液に分散させてスラリーと し、 このスラリーを集電体上に塗布した後、 乾燥する方法等で作製されている。 ここで用いる結着剤としては、 ポリフヅ化ビニリデン、 ポリテトラフルォロェチ レンをはじめ多くの物質が従来から知られているが、 化学的安定性や電極製造上 の理由から主としてポリフッ化ビ二リデンが用いられている。
—方、 このようなリチウム二次電池の電解液の溶媒としては、 例えばエチレン
カーボネート、 プロピレンカーボネート、 ジェチルカーボネート、 ァープチロラ クトン等のカーボネート類又はエステル類の非水系有機溶媒が用いられている。 しかしながら、 リチウム二次電池は使用電位幅が 3 V以上で、 極めて高活性のリ チウムを使用するため、 上記のような比較的安定な非水系有機溶媒を含む電解液 を使用しても、 充放電過程において電極表面での電解液の分解は避けることがで きない。 このため、 充放電効率の低下やサイクル特性の低下等の問題を招いてい た。
本発明は、 これらの従来技術の問題点を解決することを目的とする。 すなわち 本発明は、 非水系電解液二次電池の電解液の分解を最小限に抑えて、 サイクル特 性の優れた高エネルギー密度の非水系電解液二次電池を提供することを目的とす る。 特に放電容量維持率の高い非水系電解液二次電池を提供することを目的とす る。 発明の開示
本発明者らは、 かかる目的を達成するために鋭意検討した結果、 特定の芳香族 カーボネートを含有する電解液を用いれば、 サイクル特性の優れた高エネルギー 密度の非水系電解液二次電池を提供することを見出し、 本発明を提供するに至つ た。
本発明は、 リチウムを吸蔵および放出することが可能な炭素質材料を含む負極、 正極、 溶質及び有機系溶媒とからなる非水系電解液、 およびセパレーターを備え た非水系電解液二次電池において、 前記有機系溶媒が下記一般式 ( I ) で表され る化合物又は下記一般式 ( I I ) で表される化合物から選ばれる少なくとも一種 を含有することを特徴とする非水系電解液二次電池を提供するものである。

本発明の非水系電解液二次電池は、 その非水系電解液の有機系溶媒として式 (I) 又は式 (I I) で表される化合物の少なくとも一種を含有することを特徴 とする。
式 (I) 又は式 (I I) において、 (^はアルキル基を有していてもよいフエ二 ル基を表す。 ここで、 アルキル基の種類、 数および置換位置については特に限定 はされないが、 炭素数 1〜8のアルキル基が好ましく、 その具体例としては、 例 えばメチル基、 ェチル基、 プロピル基、 ブチル基、 へキシル基等が挙げられ、 こ れらの中でもメチル基、 ェチル基が特に好ましい。 2以上のアルキル基を有する 場合は、 それらのアルキル基は同一であっても異なっていてもよい。 アルキル基
を有していてもよいフエニル基の具体例としては、 例えばフエニル基、 メチルフ ェニル基、 ェチルフエニル基、 プロピルフエニル基、 ブチルフエニル基、 へキシ ルフェニル基、 ジメチルフェニル基等が挙げられる。
また、 Rは水素原子、 炭素数 1〜4のアルキル基又はアルキル基を有していて もよいフエ二ル基を表す。 ここで、 炭素数 1〜4のアルキル基とは、 例えばメチ ル基、 ェチル基、 n—プロピル基、 i—プロピル基、 n—ブチル基、 i—ブチル 基、 s e c—ブチル基、 t e r t—プチル基を表す。 また、 アルキル基を有して いてもよいフエニル基については、 それそれ独立したものではあるが、 øと同様 に定義される。
このような式 (I) 又は式 ( I I) で表わされるフエ二ル基を有する環状力一 ボネート類の中、 式 ( I) の化合物の具体例としては、 例えば、 フエニルェチレ ンカーボネート、 ジフエニルエチレンカーボネート、 メチルフエニルエチレン力 ーボネート (R =メチル基、 ø =フヱニル基)、 ェチルフエニルエチレン力一ボネ —ト (R二ェチル基、 0 =フヱニル基) 等が挙げられ、 また、 式 (I I) の化合 物の具体例としては、 例えば、 フエ二ルビ二レンカーボネート、 ジフエ二ルビ二 レンカーボネート、 メチルフエ二ルビ二レンカーボネート (R =メチル基、 ø = フエニル基)、 ェチルフエ二ルビ二レンカーボネート (R二ェチル基、 0 =フエ二 ル基) 等を挙げることができる。 これらは二種以上混合して用いてもよい。
なお、 式( I )又は式(I I)の化合物については、 公知の方法、例えば、 Clark, J.R., J. Org. Chem., 24, 1088(1959)、 Morris, L.R. , J.Org.Chem. ,27, 1451(1962)、 Breitbeil, F.W., et al., Transactions, 111. State Acad. Sci.,67,139(1974)等 に記載の方法に準拠して合成することができる。
式 (I) 又は式 (I I) で表わされるフヱニル基を有する環状カーボネート以 外の有機系溶媒成分としてはエチレンカーボネート、 プロピレンカーボネート、 ブチレンカーボネー卜等の環状カーボネート類; ジメチルカ一ボネート、 ジェチ ルカ一ボネート、 ェチルメチルカーボネート等の鎖状カーボネート類; ァ—プチ ロラクトン、 ァ一バレロラクトン等の環状エステル類;酢酸メチル、 プロピオン
酸メチル等の鎖状エステル類;テトラヒドロフラン、 2—メチルテトラヒドロフ ラン、 テトラヒドロピラン等の環状エーテル類; ジメ トキシェタン、 ジメ トキシ メタン等の鎖状エーテル類;スルフォラン、 ジェチルスルホン等の含硫黄有機溶 媒等が挙げられる。 これらの中では、 環状カーボネート類及び鎖状カーボネート 類が好ましい。 これらの溶媒は二種類以上混合して用いても良い。
なお、 式 ( I ) 又は式 (I I) の化合物は、 有機系溶媒中の合計含有量が通常 0. 05〜40重量%、 好ましくは 0. 1〜20重量%、 より好ましくは、 0. 2〜 10重量%の範囲内となるように用いられる。 その含有量が 0. 05重量% 未満であると、 十分な被膜形成がなされず、 また、 40重量%を越えると電解液 の粘度が高くなつて電気伝導率が低くなり、 電池の性能が低下するため好ましく ない。
溶質については、 通常、 リチウム塩が用いられる。 リチウム塩については特に 限定はされないが、 その具体例としては、 無機塩として、 例えば L i C 104、 L iPF6、 L iBF4、 L iAs F6、 L i SbF6、 L i l、 L i B r、 L iC l、 L iAl C l、 L iHF2、 L i S CN、 L i B P h 4等が挙げられ、 また、 有機 塩として、 例えば、 L i CF3S03、 L iN (CF3S〇2) 2、 L iN (CF3C F2S〇2) 2、 L iN (CF3S02) (C4F9S〇2)、 L i C (CF3S02) 3等 の含フッ素有機リチウム塩が挙げられる。 これらの中、 L i C 104、 L iPF6、 L iBF4、 L i CF3S03、 L i (CF3S02) 2、 L iN (CF3 CF2 S 〇2) 2、 L iN (CF3S02) (C4F9S02) 及び L i C (CF3S02) 3が好 ましく、 L iPF6、 L iBF4、 L iN (CF3S02) 2、 L iN (CF3CF2 S02) 2がより好ましく、 特に L iPF6、 L iBF4が好ましい。 なお、 これら の溶質 ίま二種類以上混合して用いてもよい。
また、 電解液中の溶質の濃度は、 通常 0. 5 ~2モル/リッ トル、 好ましくは 0. 5~1. 5モル/リッ トルである。 0. 5モル/リットル未満又は 2モル/ リットルを越える範囲では、 電解液の電気伝導率が低下するため好ましくない。 本発明の非水系電解液二次電池を構成する負極の材料としては、 リチウムを吸
蔵及び放出し得る炭素質材料を含むものであれば特に限定されないが、 その具体 例としては、 例えば様々な熱分解条件での有機物の熱分解物や、 人造黒鉛、 天然 黒鉛等が挙げられる。 好適には種々の原料から得た易黒鉛性ピツチの高温熱処理 によって製造された人造黒鉛及び精製天然黒鉛或レ、はこれらの黒鉛にピッチを含 む種々の表面処理を施した材料が主として使用される。 これらの黒鉛材料は学振 法による X線回折で求めた格子面 (002面) の d値 (層間距離) が 0. 335 〜0. 340 nm、 より好ましくは 0. 335~0. 337 nmであるものが好 ましい。 これら黒鉛材料は、 灰分が 1重量%以下、 より好ましくは 0. 5重量% 以下、 最も好ましくは 0. 1重量%以下でかつ学振法による X線回折で求めた結 晶子サイズ (L c) が 30 nm以上であることが好ましい。 更に結晶子サイズ(L c) は、 50 nm以上の方がより好ましく、 100 nm以上であるものが最も好 ましい。 また、 黒鉛材料のメジアン径は、 レーザ一回折 ·散乱法によるメジアン 径で、 l /m〜 100 ^m、 好ましくは 3〃m〜 50〃m、 より好ましくは 5〃 m〜40〃m、 更により好ましくは 7〃m〜 30〃mである。 黒鉛材料の BET 法比表面積は、 0. 5〜25. 0m2/gであり、 好ましくは 0. 7〜20. 0 m 2/g、 より好ましくは 1. 0〜15. 0m2/g、 更に好ましくは 1. 5〜10. 0m2/gである。 また、 アルゴンイオンレーザ一光を用いたラマンスペクトル分 祈において、 1580〜 1620 cm— 1の範囲のピーク PA (ピーク強度 I A) 及 び 1350〜 1370 cm一 1の範囲のピーク PB (ピーク強度 I B) との強度比 R = IB/IAは、 0〜0. 5であることが好ましい。 1580〜 1620 cm— 1の 範囲のピークの半値幅は 26 cm— 1以下であることが好ましく、 25 cm一1以下 であることがより好ましい。
またこれらの炭素質材料にリチウムを吸蔵及び放出可能な負極材を混合して用 いることもできる。 炭素質材料以外のリチウムを吸蔵及び放出可能な負極材とし ては、 酸化錫、 酸化珪素等の金属酸化物材料、 更にはリチウム金属並びに種々の リチウム合金を例示することができる。 これらの負極材料は 2種類以上混合して 用いても良い。
これらの負極材料を用いて負極を製造する方法については、特に限定されない。 例えば、 負極材料に、 必要に応じて結着剤、 増粘剤、 導電材、 溶媒等を加えてス ラリー状とし、 集電体の基板に塗布し、 乾燥することにより負極を製造すること ができるし、 また、 該負極材料をそのままロール成形してシート電極としたり、 圧縮成形によりペレツト電極とすることもできる。
本発明においては、 負極の結着剤として、 スチレン 'ブタジエンゴム (以下「s
B R」 と略記することがある)、 水添スチレン 'ブタジエンゴム、 スチレン 'イソ プレンゴム、 水添スチレン ' イソプレンゴム、 イソプレンゴム、 ブタジエンゴム 及びエチレン · プロピレンゴムの中の少なくとも一種のゴムを用いることがもう 一つの特徴である。 これらの中、 S B R、 スチレン 'イソプレンゴムが好ましく、 特に S B Rが好ましい。 本発明に用いられる S B Rとは、 ブタジエンとスチレン との乳化重合による共重合体であり、 その種類は特に限定されない。 S B Rとし ては、 例えば、 J S R、 日本ゼオン、 住友化学、 三菱化学等から販売されている ものを用いることができる。 増粘剤としては、 カルボキシメチルセルロース、 メ チルセル口一ル、 ヒ ドロキシメチルセルロース、 ェチルセルロース、 ポリビニル アルコール、 酸化スターチ、 リン酸化スターチ、 カゼイン等が挙げられる。
導電材としては、 銅やニッケル等の金属材料、 グラフアイ ト、 カーボンブラッ ク等のような炭素材料が挙げられる。
負極用集電体の材質は、 銅、 ニッケル、 ステンレス等の金属が使用され、 これ らの中では薄膜に加工しやすいという点とコス卜の点から銅箔が好ましい。
本発明の電池を構成する正極の材料としては、 リチウムコバルト酸化物、 リチ ゥムニッケル酸化物、 リチウムマンガン酸化物等のリチウム還移金属複合酸化物 材料等のリチウムを吸蔵 ·放出可能な材料を使用することができる。
正極の製造方法については、 特に限定されず、 上記の負極の製造方法に準じて 製造することができる。 また、 その形状については、 正極材料に必要に応じて結 着剤、 導電材等を加えて混合後、 集電体の基板に塗布してシート電極としたり、 プレス成形を施してペレツト電極とすることができる。
正極集電体には、 電解液中での陽極酸化により表面に不動態皮膜を形成する弁 金属又はその合金を用いるのが好ましい。 弁金属としては、 I I I a、 I V a、 V a族に属する金属及びこれらの合金を挙げることができ、 具体的にはアルミ二 ゥム、 チタン、 タンタル等の、 金属又はその合金が挙げられる。 これらの中で、 特にアルミニウム又はその合金が軽量であるためエネルギー密度の点で望ましい。 本発明の電池に使用するセパレ一夕の材質や形状については、 特に限定されな い。 但し、 電解液に対して安定で、 保液性の優れた材料の中から選ぶのが好まし く、 ポリエチレン、 ポリプロピレン等のポリオレフインを原料とする多孔性シー 卜又は不織布等を用いるのが好ましい。
負極、 正極及び非水系電解液を少なくとも有する本発明の電池を製造する方法 については、 特に限定されず、 通常採用されている方法の中から適宜選択するこ とができる。
また、 電池の形状については、 特に限定されず、 シート電極及びセパレ一夕を スパイラル状にしたシリンダータイプ、 ペレツ ト電極及びセパレ一夕を組み合わ せたインサイ ドアウト構造のシリンダータイプ、 ペレッ ト電極及びセパレー夕を 積層したコィンタイプ等が使用可能である。
本発明の非水系二次電池は、 電解液の分解が最小限に抑えられており、 サイク ル特性が優れていてエネルギー密度が高いという特徴を有する。 いかなる理論に も拘泥するものではないが、 本発明の非水系二次電池において電解液の分解が最 小限に抑えられているのは、 フエ二ル基を有する環状カーボネ一卜化合物を含有 する有機系溶媒を使用することにより、 電解液と接する電極表面にかなり安定な リチウムイオン透過性の保護被膜が生成することによるものと考えられる。 そし て、 電解液の分解が抑制されることにより、 サイクル特性の優れた高エネルギー 密度の二次電池が作製できるものと考えられる。
また、 負極の結着材としてスチレン 'ブタジエンゴム等を使用することにより、 一段とサイクル特性に優れた非水系二次電池を提供することができる。 いかなる 理論にも拘泥するものではないが、 これはスチレン · ブタジエンゴム等を使用す
ることにより、 電解液と接する電極表面にかなり安定なリチウムィォン透過性の 保護被膜が生成し、 この被膜により電解液の分解や結着剤とリチウムとの反応が 制御されるためと考えられる。 これによつて、 非水系電解液二次電池の一層の小 型化と高性能化を図ることができる。 実施例
以下に、 実施例及び比較例を挙げて本発明を更に具体的に説明する。 以下の実 施例に示す材料、 試薬、 割合、 操作等は、 本発明の精神から逸脱しない限り適宜 変更することができる。 したがって、 本発明の範囲は以下に示す具体例に制限さ れるものではない。
(実施例 1 )
正極活物質として L i C 0 0 2 8 5重量部に力一ボンブラック 6重量部、 ポリフ ッ化ビ二リデン (クレハ化学社製、 K F— 1 0 0 0 ) 9重量部を加えて混合し、 N—メチル一 2—ピロリ ドンで分散し、 スラリ一状としたものを正極集電体であ る厚さ 2 0〃mのアルミニウム箔上に均一に塗布し、 乾燥後、 所定の形状 (直径 1 2 . 5 mmの円盤状) に打ち抜いて正極とした。
負極活物質として、 人造黒鉛粉末 (ティムカル社製、 K S— 4 4 ) 9 4重量部 に同上のポリフッ化ビ二リデン 6重量部を混合し、 N—メチル一 2—ピロリ ドン で分散させスラリー状としたものを負極集電体である厚さ 1 8〃mの銅箔上に均 一に塗布し、 乾燥後、 所定の形状 (直径 1 2 . 5 mmの円盤状) に打ち抜いて負 極とした。
電解液については、 乾燥アルゴン雰囲気下で、 エチレンカーボネートとジェチ ルカ一ボネートの混合物 (体積比 5 0 : 5 0 ) に、 式 ( I ) において øがフエ二 ル基であり Rが水素であるフエニルエチレンカーボネートを 1 0重量%の割合で 溶解し、 更に溶質として十分に乾燥した六フッ化リン酸リチウム (L i P F 6 ) を 1モル/リットルの割合で溶解して調製した。
これらの正極、 負極、 電解液を用いて、 図 1に示すようなコイン型非水系電解
液電池を、 乾燥アルゴン雰囲気下で次のようにして作製した。 すなわち、 正極 1 と負極 2とを、 それそれステンレス製の正極缶 3と封口板 4に収容し、 電解液を 含浸させたセパレ一ター 5を介して積層した。 続いて、 正極缶 3と封口板 4とを ガスケット 6を介してかしめ密封して、 コイン型電池を作製した。
(実施例 2)
実施例 1において、 フエニルエチレンカーボネートの代わりに、 式 (I I) に おいて (^がフエニル基であり、 Rがフェニル基であるジフエ二ルビ二レンカーボ ネートを用いた以外は実施例 1と同様にしてコイン型電池を作製した。
(比較例 1)
エチレンカーボネートとジェチルカ一ボネートの混合物 (体積比 50 : 50 ) に、 十分に乾燥した L iPFr)を 1モル/リッ トルの割合で溶解した電解液を用い たこと以外は実施例 1と同様にしてコィン型電池を作製した。
(実施例 3)
プロピレンカーボネートにフエニルエチレンカーボネートを 10重量%の割合 で溶解し、 更に十分に乾燥した L i PF6を 1モル/リッ トルの割合で溶解して調 製した電解液を用いたこと以外は実施例 1と同様にしてコイン電池を作製した。 (実施例 4)
実施例 3において、 フエニルエチレンカーボネー卜の代わりにジフエ二ルビ二 レンカーボネートを用いた以外は実施例 3と同様にしてコイン型電池を作製した。 (比較例 2)
プロピレンカーボネートに L iPF6を 1モル/リヅ トルの割合で溶解した電解 液を用いたこと以外は実施例 1と同様にしてコイン型電池を作製した。
これらの実施例 1〜4及び比較例 1、 2の電池を 25°Cにおいて、 0. 5mA の定電流で充電終止電圧 4. 2V、 放電終止電圧 2. 5 Vで充放電試験を行った。 それそれの電池における 10サイクル目と 100サイクル目の負極重量当りの 放電容量と、 放電容量維持率を表 1に示す。 放電容量維持率は下式で計算される ものであり、 サイクル特性の目安となるものである。

表 1から、 フエ二ル基を有する環状カーボネートを含有している電解液を用い た場合の方が容量維持率が向上し、 サイクル特性が優れていることが明らかであ る (実施例 1〜4と比較例 1, 2の比較)。 また、 プロピレンカーボネート単独溶 媒の電解液の場合には、 プロピレンカーボネートが負極の炭素材料表面で激しく 分解し電池として作動しないが (比較例 2 )、 プロピレンカーボネートにフエニル 基を有する環状カーボネートが含有することにより作動可能となり、 放電容量、 サイクル特性が著しく改善されている (実施例 3および 4 )。
(実施例 5 )
正極活物質として L i C o〇2 8 5重量部に力一ボンブラック 6重量部を加え、 更に N—メチルー 2—ピロリ ドンに溶解したポリフッ化ビ二リデン (クレハ化学 社製、 K F— 1 0 0 0 ) を固形分で 9重量部となるように加えて混合し、 スラリ
—状としたものを正極集電体である厚さ 20〃mのアルミニウム箔上に均一に塗 布し、 乾燥後、 直径 12. 5 mmの円盤状に打ち抜いて正極とした。
負極活物質として、 人造黒鉛粉末 (ティムカル社製、 KS— 44) 94重量部 に蒸留水で分散させたスチレン ' ブタジエンゴム (SBR) を固形分で 6重量部 となるように加えてデイスパーザ一で混合し、 スラリー状としたものを負極集電 体である厚さ 18〃mの銅箔上に均一に塗布し、 乾燥後、 直径 12. 5 mmの円 盤状に打ち抜いて負極とした。
電解液については、 乾燥アルゴン雰囲気下で、 エチレンカーボネートとジェチ ルカ一ボネートの混合物 (体積比 50 : 50) に、 前記式 (I) において Φがフ ェニル基であり Rが水素であるフヱニルエチレンカーボネートを 2重量%の割合 で溶解し、 更に溶質として十分に乾燥した L iPFeを 1モル/リットルの割合で 溶解して調製した。
これらの正極、 負極、 ^解液を用いて、 図 1に示すコイン型非水系電解液電池 を乾燥アルゴン雰囲気下で次のようにして作製した。 即ち、 正極導電体を兼ねる ステンレス銅製の缶体 3に 極 1を収容し、 その上に電解液を含浸させたセパレ 一夕一 5を介して負極 2を載置した。 この缶体と負極導電体を兼ねる封口板 4と を、 絶縁用のガスケット 6を介してかしめて密封し、 コイン型電池を作製した。 (実施例 6 )
負極の結着剤にポリフヅ化ビ二リデンを用い N—メチルー 2—ピロリ ドンでス ラリー状としたこと以外は実施例 5と同様にしてコィン型電池を作製した。
これらの実施例 5及び 6の電池を 25°Cにおいて、 1. 6mAの定電流で充電 し、 終止電圧 4. 2V、 放電終止電圧 2. 5 Vで 3サイクル充放電試験を行った 後、 60°Cにおいて充放電試験を行った。 60°Cにおける放電容量維持率とサイ クル数との関係を、 それそれの電池について図 2にグラフとして示す。
図 2から明らかなようにフエ二ル基を有する環状カーボネートを含有している 電解液を用いた場合、 いずれも放電容量維持率が高い。 特に負極の結着剤にスチ レン ·ブタジエンゴムを用いた場合は、 60°Cと比較的高温でのサイクルを行つ
ても容量維持率が向上し、 サイクル特性が優れることが判る (実施例 5)。
実施例 7 )
乾燥アルゴン雰囲気下で、 プロピレンカーボネートにフエニルエチレンカーボ ネートを 10重量%の割合で溶解し、 更に溶質として十分に乾燥した L i PF6を 1モル/リットルの割合で溶解して電解液を調製した。
X線回折における格子面 (002面) の d値が 0. 336 nm、 晶子サイズ (L c) が、 100 nm以上 ( 264 nm)、 灰分が 0. 04重量%、 レーザ一回折 ' 散乱法によるメジアン径が 17〃m、 BET法比表面積が 8. 9 m2 / g、 アル ゴンイオンレーザ一光を用いたラマンスぺクトル分析において 1580〜 162 0 cm一1の範囲のピーク P A (ピーク強度 IA) および 1350〜 1370 cm一 1 の範囲のピーク PB (ピーク強度 IB) の強度比 R= I B/IAが 0. 15、 158 0〜 1620 cm— 1の範囲のピークの半値幅が 22. 2 cm— 1である人造黒鉛粉 末 (ティムカル社製、 KS— 44) 94重量部にポリフッ化ビニリデン (6重量 部) を混合し、 N—メチル— 2—ピロリ ドンで分散させて混合し、 スラリー状と したものを集電体である厚さ 18 /mの銅箔上に均一に塗布し、 乾燥後、 直径 1 2. 5 mmの円盤状に打ち抜いて電極を作製し作用極とし、 電解液を含浸させた セパレ一夕一を介してリチウム箔を対極として構成されたコィン型ハーフセルを 作製した。
(比較例 3 )
実施例 Ίにおいて電解液にフエニルエチレンカーボネートを添加しなかったこ と以外は実施例 7と同様にしてコイン型ハーフセルを作製した。
(実施例 8)
実施例 7で用いた人造黒鉛粉末の代わりに、 X線回折における格子面 (002 面) の d値が 0. 336 nm、 晶子サイズ ( L c ) 力 100 nm以上 (652 nm)、 灰分が 0. 07重量%、 レーザ一回折 ·散乱法によるメジアン径が 12〃 m、 BET法比表面積が 7. 5 m2 /g、 アルゴンイオンレーザー光を用いたラ マンスぺク トル分析において 1 580〜 1620 cm— 1の範囲のピーク PA (ピ
—ク強度 IA) および 1350~1370 cm— 1の範囲のピーク PB (ピーク強度 1!3) の強度比1 =
0. 12、 1580〜: I 620 cm— 1の範囲のピ —クの半値幅が 19. 9 cm— 1である天然黒鉛粉末 (関西熱化学社製、 NG—7) を使用した以外は実施例 7と同様に作用極を作製し、 コイン型ハーフセルを作製 した。
(比較例 4)
実施例 8において電解液にフヱニルエチレンカーボネートを添加しなかったこ と以外は実施例 8と同様にしてコイン型ハーフセルを作製した。
(実施例 9)
人造黒鉛粉末 (ティムカル社製、 KS44) 2 kgを石油系ピッチ l kgと混 合し、 得られたスラリー状の混合物を回分式加熱炉で不活性雰囲気下にて 1 10 0°Cまで 2時間で昇温、 同温度で 2時間保持した。 これを粉砕し、 振動式篩いに より粒径を 18〜22 mに整え、 最終的に 7%の非晶質炭素で人造黒鉛表面を 被覆した 「非晶質被覆黒鉛系炭素物質」 を得た。 非晶質炭素部位の X線回折にお ける格子面 (002面) の d値は 0. 345 nmであった。
実施例 7で用いた人造黒鉛粉末の代わりに、 上記 「非晶質被覆黒鉛系炭素物質」 を使用した以外は実施例 7と同様に作用極を作製し、 コイン型ハーフセルを作製 した。
(比較例 5)
実施例 9において電解液にフヱニルエチレンカーボネートを添加しなかったこ と以外は実施例 9と同様にしてコイン型ハーフセルを作製した。
次に、 上記のようにして作製した実施例 7〜 9及び比較例 3〜 5のコイン型ハ ーフセルについて、 25°Cにおいて、 0. 2 mAの定電流で放電終止電圧 0V、 0. 4mAの定電流で充電終止電圧 1. 5 Vで充放電試験を行った。
実施例 7〜 9及び比較例 3〜 5の 1サイクル目の脱ド一プ容量 (作用極からの リチウムの脱ドープ容量) と効率 (脱ドープ容量 X 100/ド一プ容量) を表 2 に示す。
ここで容量とは、 作用極として使用した炭素質材料重量あたりの容量を示す 表 2
実施例 7〜9に示すように、 プロピレン力一ボネ一卜にフエニルエチレンカー ボネ一トを含有することにより、 電解液の分解が抑制され、 リチウムのドープ - 脱ド一プが可能となる。 産業上の利用可能性
本発明の非水系電解液二次電池は、 電解液の分解が最小限に抑えられており、 サイクル特性が良好でエネルギー密度が高いという特徴を有する。 また、 本発明 の非水系二次電池は、 放電容量維持率が高くて、 小型化および高性能化を図るこ とができるため、 さまざまな分野で広範に利用され得るものである。
Claims
1 . リチウムを吸蔵および放出することが可能な炭素質材料を含む負極、正極、 溶質及び有機系溶媒とからなる非水系電解液、 およびセパレー夕一を備えた非水 系電解液二次電池において、
前記有機系溶媒が下記一般式 ( I ) で表される化合物又は下記一般式 ( I I ) で表される化合物から選ばれる少なくとも一種を含有することを特徴とする非水 系電解液二次電池。

(式中、 øはアルキル基を有していてもよいフヱニル基を表し、 Rは水素原子、 炭素数 1〜4のアルキル基又はアルキル基を有していてもよいフエ二ル基を表 す)
2 . 前記負極の結着剤としてスチレン ·ブタジエンゴム、 水添スチレン■ブ夕 ジェンゴム、 スチレン · イソプレンゴム、 水添スチレン ' イソプレンゴム、 イソ プレンゴム、 ブタジエンゴム及びエチレン ·プロピレンゴムから選択される少な くとも一種のゴムを用いることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項に記載の非水系電 解液二次電池。
3 . 前記有機系溶媒が更に環状カーボネート又は鎖状カーボネートを含有する ことを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項または第 2項に記載の非水系電解液二次電池。
4 . 前記溶質がリチウム塩であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1〜 3項のい ずれかに記載の非水系電解液二次電池。
5. 前記リチウム塩が L i C 1〇4、 LiPF6、 LiBF4、 LiCF3S03、 L iN (CF3S〇2) 2、 L i N (CF3CF2 S02) 2、 L i N (CF3S02) (C4F9S02) 及び L i C (CF3S02) 3から選ばれる少なくとも一種のリチ ゥム塩であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 4項に記載の非水系電解液二次電池。
6. 前記有機系溶媒中の式 ( I ) 及び式 (I I) の化合物の合計含有量が 0. 05-40重量%であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1〜 5項のいずれかに記 載の非水系電解液二次電池。
7. 前記非水系電解液中の溶質濃度が、 0. 5〜2モル/リッ トルであること を特徴とする請求の範囲第 1 ~ 6項のいずれかに記載の非水系電解液二次電池。
8. 前記炭素質材料として、 学振法による X線回折で求めた格子面 (002面) の d値 (層間距離) が 0. 335〜0. 340 nm、 灰分が 1重量%以下、 学振 法による X線回折で求めた結晶子サイズ(L c)が 30nm以上、 レーザー回折 ' 散乱法によるメジアン径が 1 !!!〜 100 m、 8 11法比表面積が0. 5〜2 5. 0m2/g、 アルゴンイオンレーザー光を用いたラマンスペクトル分析におけ る 1580〜 1620 cm— 1の範囲のピーク PA (ピーク強度 I A) 及び 1350 〜1370 cm— 1の範囲のピーク PB (ピーク強度 IB) との強度比 R=IB/IA が 0〜0. 5、 1580〜 1620 cm—1の範囲のピークの半値幅が 26 cm一 1 以下である黒鉛材料を用いることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1〜 7項のいずれか に記載の非水系電解液二次電池。
