Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for discharging a medium, which is dissolved or finely distributed in a liquid, to a location located away from the discharge location according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of specifying an effective method for discharging a medium dissolved or finely distributed in a liquid, in which an operator cannot be hit by parts of the discharged medium deflected by wind.
- the liquid receiving the substance or the medium is held in a tubular housing which is open at one end.
- the open end is preferably provided with a jet shaping device.
- a gas under pressure is suddenly applied to the other end of the housing over a period of time. It must be ensured that the liquid is essentially discharged as a column and does not immediately disperse into fine droplets when it hits air. A relatively high pressure is therefore required, but it must not happen that the gaseous propellant makes its way through the liquid column and pulls the fluid behind it according to the jet pump principle and swirls it strongly.
- a beam of limited length emerges from the tubular housing, which detaches from the housing and strikes the application site after a certain flight time.
- the distance covered distance is 20 to 25 m if a liquid amount of about 1 1 is used. Pressure and volume of the liquid as well as the gaseous propellant must be coordinated accordingly in order to achieve the desired result.
- the "flying" jet begins to fan out after a certain distance of its trajectory, so that a limited area is covered with liquid particles at the application site. This is also desirable for most applications.
- a liquid e.g. Water
- a medium for example a certain active ingredient
- a gas is stored under pressure in the outer cylinder, which forms an annular space with the inside.
- both reservoirs can be permanently connected to a supply source so that they can be refilled from the first reservoir after a predetermined amount has been dispensed.
- a jet shaping device which ensures that the liquid emerges as a jet, but in a more or less fine distribution, such as e.g. is the case with shower heads.
- the device according to the invention also has a valve piston which is controlled by a pneumatic control device in order to bring the valve piston into one of two possible positions.
- the valve piston In the closed position, the valve piston rests on the associated end face of the inner cylinder tube and therefore closes the passage between the annular space between the inner and outer tubes. In the open position, however, this passage is released, which therefore forms an annular gap, through the gas under pressure on the liquid column in the inner reservoir to squeeze out the liquid.
- the valve piston is normally held in the closed position by a differential pressure between a first active surface of the valve piston, which faces the annular space, and an opposite active surface, which is exposed to the pressure in the second reservoir.
- the pulsed discharge of an intended amount of liquid e.g. 1 is 1, takes place in a very short time.
- reloading can take place, so that the described process can be repeated as long as the liquid and the pressurized gas source are not exhausted.
- the valve piston has a first cylindrical sealing section has, the end face of which cooperates with the first reservoir and which is slidably and sealingly movable in a first bore section, a second cylindrical sealing section with a smaller diameter which is slidably and sealingly movable in a second bore section and a third cylindrical sealing section which fits into a Bore immerses when the valve piston is in the open position, but is arranged in the closed position in a space which is separated from the second sealing section from a second space which is formed between the valve piston and the housing for the valve piston, this space via a radial bore is constantly associated with atmosphere.
- a vent valve is associated with the first space and a pressure source for gas is connected to the bore, the bore being connected to the second reservoir via a check valve.
- a particularly advantageous feature is that a hole nozzle has a central hole and a ring of individual holes arranged concentrically to the hole at a radial distance from the central hole.
- FIG. 1 shows a section through a schematically illustrated device for performing the method according to the invention.
- FIG. 2 shows a front view of a jet nozzle for the device according to FIG. 1.
- Fig. 3 shows a section through the nozzle of Fig. 2 along the line 3-3.
- FIG. 1 shows a device 10 with a housing, which is composed of a cylindrical outer tube 12, a cylindrical inner tube 14, which is at a radial distance from the outer tube 12, and a block 16.
- the outer tube 12 is placed on a shoulder of the block 16, for example screwed.
- An annular space 18 is formed between the inner and outer cylinders.
- a valve piston 20 is arranged in a space formed between the cylinders 12, 14 and the block 16.
- the valve piston 20 has a first sealing section 22, which cooperates with a sealing ring 24 in a sealing manner with the inner wall of the outer cylinder 12.
- the left front surface of the sealing section 22 has a recess in which a sealing disk 26a is received, which cooperates with the facing end of the inner tube 14.
- valve piston 20 the closed position of the valve piston 20 is shown.
- the sealing section 32 is located in a bore section 36 whose diameter is larger than that of the bore section 30.
- a section of the piston 20 lying between the sealing sections 22, 26 has a somewhat smaller diameter, so that a space 38 is formed, which is constantly connected to the atmosphere via a radial bore 40 in the outer tube 12.
- the inner tube 14 is connected via a filling device (not shown) to a reservoir 42 via a valve 41 for liquid, in which a medium is dissolved or finely distributed.
- the medium can be a chemical agent, for example.
- the central bore 34 is connected to a compressed gas source 48, for example compressed air, via a filling device (not shown) and a throttle arrangement 46.
- the space 48 formed by the bore section 36 is connected to a vent valve 50.
- a connecting line 52 connects the bore section 34 to the annular space 18 via a check valve 52.
- This has a central hole 56 and a ring of holes 58 which is arranged concentrically with the central hole 56.
- the nozzle arrangement 54 has a conical recess 60 which tapers towards the central hole 56.
- the pressure on the annular active surface 64 is able to bring the piston 20 to the right into the open position.
- the space 48 is also in connection with the space 38 and is thus connected to the atmosphere via the bore 40.
- the sealing section 32 is immersed in the bore 34, so that pressure only acts on the piston 20 via the active surface of the sealing section 32.
- an annular gap is formed toward the inside of the inner tube 14, through which the compressed gas can drive out the liquid via the nozzle arrangement 54.
- the nozzle arrangement forms a more or less finely distributed, but relatively wide jet. Because of the constant connection between the bore 34 and the annular space 18, a certain amount of compressed gas still flows in to effect the expulsion of the liquid. However, if the pressure on the entire end face of the sealing section 22 decreases due to the expulsion process, the pressure on the active surface of the sealing section 32 is sufficient to move the piston back into the closed position. This pressure increases the moment the seal 28 re-enters the bore section 30. As soon as the two reservoirs for liquid and compressed gas are refilled, which is the case within a short time, another jet can be emitted.
