Definitions
- the invention relates to pourable and free-flowing granules containing anionic surfactants, which contain ⁇ -sulfofatty acid alkyl esters and inorganic carrier material, a process for their preparation and their use as premixes (compounds) for the production of granular detergents and cleaners.
- oleochemical surfactant compounds which are obtained from renewable vegetable and / or animal raw materials and which have a high ecological compatibility, is of great and therefore rapidly increasing importance.
- oleochemical surfactant compounds with high environmental compatibility are the known fatty alcohol sulfates, which are produced by sulfating fatty alcohols of vegetable and / or animal origin with predominantly 10 to 20 carbon atoms in the fatty alcohol molecule and subsequent neutralization to form water-soluble salts, in particular the corresponding alkali salts, as well as the known ⁇ -sulfofatty acid alkyl esters (ester sulfonates) which, by oc-sulfonation of the methyl esters of fatty acids of plant and / or animal origin with predominantly 10 to 20 carbon atoms in the fatty acid molecule and subsequent neutralization to form water-soluble mono salts, in particular the corresponding ones the alkali salts.
- aqueous slurries which contain alkylbenzenesulfonate in amounts of up to 50% by weight as anionic surfactants can be spray-dried without problems at the temperatures customary in such processes, normally up to above 250 ° C.
- aqueous slurries which contain comparable amounts of fatty alkyl sulfates or of ⁇ -sulfofatty acid alkyl esters, the risk of spontaneous combustion or dust explosion. Switching to lower temperatures generally leads, particularly when concentrated aqueous slurries are used, to sticky products which are only suitable for incorporation into granular detergents or cleaning agents come into question.
- anionic surfactant-containing granules by spray drying consequently requires, on the one hand, the development of a specially suitable use of relatively high amounts of fatty alkyl sulfate or of ⁇ -sulfo fatty acid alkyl testers, and on the other hand the finding of certain process parameters which have to be observed during spray drying.

Copolymers in which 60 to 85% by weight of acrylic acid and 40 to 15% by weight of maleic acid are present are particularly preferred.
- Their relative molecular weight, based on free acids, is generally from 5000 to 200000, preferably 10,000 to 120,000 and in particular 50,000 to 100,000.

- zeolite is present in the spray-dried granules according to the invention in hydrated form.
- the rod of hydrated zeolite preferably contains 20 to 22% by weight of bound water, based on hydrated zeolite.
- the zeolite-containing granules according to the invention have particularly advantageous application properties, such as free-flowing properties, if the zeolite in the granules is sufficient Water to form a hydrate with a water content of about 22 wt .-%, based on hydrated zeolite, is provided. Components such as sodium sulfate and polymeric polycarboxylates, on the other hand, are counted as anhydrous substances. The sum of the water components from the stable hydrates gives the theoretical water content of a stable granulate.
- the difference between the actual water content of the granules and the theoretical water content of the granules represents the residual moisture content (d) of the granules.
- Preferred granules according to the invention have one Residual moisture content (d) of less than 2% by weight, preferably less than 1% by weight and in particular from 0 to 0.5% by weight.
- the desired residual moisture content of less than 3% by weight leads to hydrolysis-stable, pourable and free-flowing products which do not tend to cake even at a storage time of 3 months at temperatures around -35 ° C.
- the person skilled in the art distinguishes two drying steps in principle.
- the aqueous medium is first removed until a crystallizing, porous matrix is formed.
- the water enclosed in the pores of the crystallizing matrix is then removed.
- the complete removal of the water which is not bound and enclosed in the pores of the crystallizing matrix is made more difficult by the fact that the crust of the crystallizing porous matrix hardens with increasing drying time and thus increasing drying.
- ⁇ -sulfofatty acid alkyl ester-containing granules are more difficult to dry completely by spray drying, that is to say the drying time for such granules is longer than for granules which only contain alkylbenzenesulfonates and / or fatty alkyl sulfates.
- the granules according to the invention are therefore preferred produced by the process according to the invention, the problem of drying ⁇ -sulfofatty acid alkyl ester-containing granules by solving the problem by combining two measures.
- aqueous slurries with a solids content of less than 60% by weight are sprayed into the drying room.
- aqueous slurries are sprayed which preferably have a solids content of 45 to 55% by weight and particularly advantageously 45 to 53% by weight.
- the solids concentration may also be above 60% by weight, for example around 62 to 65% by weight.
- granules with particularly advantageous properties are also obtained here if the solids content of the aqueous slurry is below 60% by weight and in particular below 55% by weight.
- the carrier substance zeolite can be introduced into the aqueous slurry either as a powder or in the form of an aqueous suspension.
- aqueous zeolite suspensions preferably from 45 to 55% by weight aqueous suspensions, about 1.5 to 3% by weight, based on the suspension, of stabilizers are additionally introduced into the aqueous slurry which are usually contained in the zeolite suspensions.
- stabilizers include nonionic surfactants, anionic surfactants or polymeric polycarboxylates.
- the zeolite into the aqueous slurry as a powder, particularly as a fine, spray-dried powder, which generally has a water content of 17 to 25% by weight.
- Preferred zeolites have no particles larger than 30 ⁇ m and consist of at least 80% of particles smaller than 10 ⁇ m.
- spray-dried zeolite powder mixtures products from Degussa, trade name Wessalith
- the small amounts of additives such as sodium sulfate, salts of nitrilotriacetic acid, sodium hydroxide, carboxymethyl cellulose, polymeric polycarboxylates or contain nonionic surfactants.
- the temperature of the aqueous slurry before spraying is preferably between 50 and 85 ° C. and in particular between 55 and 80 ° C.
- the generation of fine droplets during spraying can further be supported by increasing the pressure of the aqueous slurry in front of the spray nozzles. Pressure ranges used with preference lie between 30 and 90 bar, in particular between 35 and 80 bar.
- nozzles with small nozzle openings.
- Nozzles which are preferably used have openings of 3 mm or less, preferably less than 2.5 mm and in particular between 0.5 and 2 mm.
- So-called “two-substance nozzles” are also used with particular advantage, with the aid of which a gaseous auxiliary medium, preferably air, is blown into the drying room together with the aqueous slurry to be spray-dried.
- the use of such nozzles allows the pressure of the aqueous slurry to be reduced before atomization, for example to about 5 to 10 bar, preferably to 6 to 8 bar.
- the second measure consists in selecting a correspondingly long residence time of the mixture in the drying rinse depending on the particular composition and the drying temperature such that a desired residual moisture content of less than 3% by weight, preferably less than 2% % By weight, in particular less than 1% by weight and with particular advantage between 0 and 0.5% by weight of water, is set in the dried granulate.
- the residence time can be extended by using a larger drying room with a longer axial drying section.
- a further possibility for increasing the residence time consists in increasing the amount of axial air flow per unit of time when using the countercurrent process for spray drying, or in addition to the axial air flow, a non-axial air flow, so-called swirl air, being fed into the drying room .
- the co-current process has the advantage that the abrasion of the resulting granules due to the lower air flow per unit time compared to the counter-current process is insignificant or lower than the abrasion of the granules produced by the counter-current process.
- the temperature of the incoming air is preferably 180 to 240 ° C and is in particular below 220 ° C, for example about 200 ° C.
- the residence time is also increased by the production of fine droplets in the spray drying room, which is achieved in particular by atomizing the relatively low-concentration aqueous slurry through nozzles with small opening widths, since, as the person skilled in the art knows, smaller droplets sink more slowly in an axial drying room than size.
- the granules produced by the process according to the invention have a very light, slightly yellowish color and have a bulk density of, for example, 150 to about 650 g / l, preferably between 180 and 600 g / l. Depending on the procedure, granules of 500 g / l or 450 g / l are also obtained. With an ideal setting of the air quantities in the drying room, granules with a particle size distribution (sieve analysis) are obtained which are largely free of particles with diameters over 2 mm or under 50 ⁇ m.
- the granules according to the invention can be used as premixes (co pounds) for the production of granular detergents and cleaning agents, the compounds according to the invention being mixed with further conventional ingredients of detergents and cleaning agents, at least some of which are preferably in the form of a spray-dried or granulated compound .
- the granules according to the invention can be compacted before being mixed with other constituents of detergents and cleaning agents, so that the bulk density of the granules according to the invention is increased. All the usual compacting methods, for example granulation in a high-speed mixer or roller compacting, can be used.
- Detergents can either have a low bulk density, for example between 200 and 500 g / l, or a high bulk density, for example from above 500 g / l to about 800 g / l or up to about 850 g / l.
- Usual ingredients of these granular detergents and cleaning agents are the further surfactants known to the person skilled in the art, for example soaps and nonionic surfactants, further amounts of inorganic builder substances, for example zeolite, or of organic builder substances, for example citric acid or citrates, inorganic salts, for example carbonates , Bicarbonates, silicates such as spray-dried water glasses or crystalline layered silicates and / or sulfate, bleaching agents, for example perborates or percarbonates, bleach activators, for example polyacrylicized alkylenediamines, carboxylic acid anhydrides or polyacrylicized polyols, graying inhibitors, for example polyvinylpyrrolidones, foam inhibitors or foam inhibitors , Enzymes, for example proteases, lipases, amylases and / or cellulases, enzyme stabilizers, optical brighteners, opacifiers or pearlescent agents, colorants and fragrances.
- a compound according to the invention is preferably used for the production of granular washing and cleaning agents, the washing and cleaning agents about 25 to 97% by weight, preferably 40 to 80% by weight and in particular up to about 70% by weight of the compounds containing ⁇ -sulfofatty acid alkyl esters, up to 25% by weight of bleach, up to 8% by weight of bleach activators, up to 1% by weight of foam inhibitors, up to 2% by weight.
- % Enzymes up to 35% by weight, preferably 10 to 25% by weight, of inorganic salts such as sodium carbonate and / or sodium silicate and up to 15% by weight, preferably 2 to 10% by weight, of further anionic and / or contain nonionic surfactants.
- Granules 1 to 3 the compositions of which can be seen in Table 1, were obtained by spray drying an aqueous slurry with a solids content of 50.3% by weight.
- the spray drying conditions can be found in Table 2. The following were used as starting materials:

Description
bedingt in Frage kommen.
Bevorzugte erfindungsgemäße Granulate enthalten (a) 10 bis 40 Gew.- Aniontenside.
