Definitions
- the object of the present invention is a hydraulic self-regulating device for clutch control cables which, in particular, is applicable as a compensating device for wear and tear on the clutch disc lining of motor vehicles.
- the hydraulic devices allow a continuous regulation of the length of the control cable without it experiencing any loss of continuity, unlike the self-regulating devices that are based on the coupling of elements that can slide telescopically together and use mechanical teeth to establish the cable length.
- the hydraulic self-regulating devices are attached to the drive fork of the counter plate of the clutch mechanism and compensate for the wear of the clutch disc lining, increasing, correspondingly, the length of the control cable that links the self-regulating device with the clutch actuator pedal, without at any time, as mentioned above, the said control cable experiences any loss of continuity.
- a body that, having means for its attachment to the actuating fork of the counter plate of the clutch mechanism, contains a piston that is integral with a regulating rod which is connected at one of its ends to the corresponding end of the control cable that links to the clutch pedal; a plunger that allows the liquid contained inside the body of the device to pass through it through holes; and, a regulating spring that, at one of its ends, reacts permanently against the body of the self-regulating device and, which at the other end, reacts against the corresponding end of said regulation rod so that it permanently pulls the control cable.
- British patent 2 018 933 "Hydraulically damped auto atic play compensation device for motor vehicle clutches" which incorporates all of the operating elements that In summary they have been described above, in addition to the unique and characteristic elements that are their own.
- the hydraulic self-regulating device for clutch control cables is constituted by the following already known elements: a main body of essentially elongated and internally hollow cylindrical shape, at the two ends of which there is, respectively, an open front mouth endowed with a closing cover, and a closed rear extension which allows it to be attached to the actuating fork of the counter plate of the clutch mechanism, which main body contains a liquid fluid; a piston housed inside the main body, which can slide with adjustment along a section delimited by two extreme limit positions, and which allows circulation through it, by a step provided for that purpose, of the fluid contained in the main body; - a regulating rod, one of whose ends crossing the closed rear extension of the main body is connected to the corresponding end of the control cable that links with the clutch mechanism drive pedal; - and, a regulating spring that acts permanently against the regulating rod so that the clutch mechanism control cable is tensioned;
- the regulating rod protrudes outside only by the rear end of the main body, the other end of said rod remaining permanently inside the main body firmly attached to the plunger;
- the passage in the piston for the circulation of fluid therethrough is provided with a shut-off valve that is constituted by a passage body firmly connected to the regulating rod and, by a closing body that can seal the circuit.
- the regulating spring is located inside the main body coaxially with respect to the regulating rod supporting one of its ends against the bottom of the inner rear end of said body so that, permanently, the other end reacts against the regulating rod, either directly, or before resting against the piston integral with the rod.
- the main body can be unipieza, or it can be constituted by several assembled component elements.
- the hydraulic self-regulating device is also characterized in that the main body internally comprises a longitudinal orifice by way of channeling whose both ends communicate with each other the two chambers that inside the main body are delimited by the piston, one on each side, and also comprises a regulating valve mounted in a through transverse orifice that crosses: the outer wall of the main body, the above-mentioned channeling and the inner wall of the main body, establishing communication between the outside and the inside of the main body in the chamber located between its rear end and the plunger.

- the regulating spring RR is coaxially arranged with respect to the VR regulating rod and reacts permanently, one of its ends, against the washer 19 arranged in the base of the portion 3a-3a 'of the hole 3-3' of the main body C £, as described above, while the other end:
- shut-off valve VC shown in detail in Figures 3-6, 13, 14 and 16 against the washer 23 incorporating the VR regulating rod: according to the embodiment of the shut-off valve VC shown in Figure 12, against the CPA passage body of said VC valve, with the intermediation of the guide body 39; and, according to the embodiment of the shut-off valve VC shown in Figure 15, against the shut-off body 76, respectively, of said VC valve.
- Figure 1 shows how the self-regulating device with the compressed RR regulating spring is originally supplied, under these conditions, the shut-off valve VC is opened by the action that the opening spring 26 exerts on the closing body 25, being the c_ and c2 cameras . communicated with each other by means of the through holes 33 configured by the passage body 24 as shown in Figure 3, the regulation screw TR preventing the passage of fluid between the chambers c_l and c2.
- FIG. 4 shows the closing action of the VC valve when the clutch pedal is operated, in effect, upon request of the ViR regulating rod the fluid contained in the chamber c2. propels the closing body 25 against the passage body 24 so that, the closing joint 36 seals the through holes 33 of the passage body 24 and, consequently, the device as a whole travels sun idari noiré with the fork of drive; the VR regulation rod not being requested.
- This embodiment of the device according to the invention maintains all of the features detailed above even when the device must be removed from its location in the drive fork, for repair or maintenance needs of other vehicle mechanisms, and subsequently assembled from new at the aforementioned location.
- Figure 7 shows how once the device is removed from its location in the actuating fork, the regulation spring RR is fully expanded and the shut-off valve VC in the open position; to reassemble the device according to the invention in its location in said fork, the adjustment screw TR must be operated so that the chambers c_l and o2 are communicated with each other by means of the passage determined by the conduit 4 , the through hole 5 and through the notch 6 provided for this purpose in the main body CP, all as shown in Figure 8; in this way, during the assembly of the device in its location on the fork fork, the liquid contained in the chamber c2.
- the TR adjustment screw must be activated by closing the fluid passage between the cj_ and c_2 chambers through the mentioned means, thus leaving the device in normal operating conditions.
- Figure 10 shows how the self-regulating device with the regulating spring R_R expanded is originally supplied, under these conditions, the closing valve VC is open given the action that the opening spring 26 exerts on the closing body 25;
- the assembly of this embodiment of the device according to the invention in the motor vehicle requires that the length of sheathed steel cable linking the clutch mechanism with its drive pedal be initially adjusted by means of an additional device.
- the regulating spring R_R incorporating the self-regulating device according to the invention is sized so that the action of the additional adjustment device, during the operation of adjusting the length of the cited sheathed steel cable, does not it modifies the portion of the regulating rod and R contained in the main body CP, so that once said adjustment has been made, the self-regulating device according to the invention becomes operative in the manner described for the preceding embodiment;
- Figure 10 shows an intermediate position of the VC shut-off valve given as a function of some wear of the clutch disc lining.
