Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for moving the detachable roof of a passenger car between its closed, normal position and the storage space in the rear of the vehicle, the latter being closable with a rear compartment cover that contains the trunk lid and laterally is essential ice to the door cutouts of the body, the movement of the rear compartment cover both as also the roof is made by a common drive, opening and closing of the cover ia necessary time offset for moving the roof occurs in the latter on guide rails reaching into the corner space can be moved by means of a pulling device acting in both sightings and the pulling device consists of flexible parts running in guideways consists.
- a particularly well-known form of these flexible parts consists of a rope partially made of steel wires and a wire helix running around the rope, non-positively connected to its surface, the slope of which is regular and obsessive within narrow tolerances, so that the gaps between adjacent turns are appropriately shaped Can engage teeth of a drive gear.
- GB Spec. 414,968 describes an embodiment in which the pulling device moving the roof, which in itself shows an extraordinarily complex construction, acts on the lower edge of the roof rear wall in the middle thereof.
- the guidance is carried out on both sides and in the middle by means of rollers, each of which engages in pairs around the associated guide tan.
- the roof is moved by means of elaborate lever constructions which, apart from other disadvantages, would not permit operation, even reasonably safe, because of the poor lateral stability without additional measures that go well beyond the given gauges.
- GB Spec. 455, 769 and CH-PS 256, 152 describe constructions in which the vehicle upper part consists of at least two parts which can be moved or swiveled relative to one another. They are not stowed in a covered rear area, since the roof part covers the rear roof wall and the otherwise open rear part of the vehicle.
- BE-PS 493, 26 ⁇ and FR-PS 1, 086, 921 are mixed constructions. Both have both slide rails and numerous z. T. multi-part Hehel, locks and the like. In some cases, the interaction of the individual elements is quite complicated and accordingly requires complicated constructions.
- the invention is based on the technical problem of the devices which have become known in the prior art for moving a vehicle to improve the lower part of the detachable fixed roof or hard tops in such a way that simple, functionally reliable operation is possible, the necessary technical effort is justifiable and the application to most common limousines and sports cars without any fundamental structural changes, apart from the necessary separation between the top and bottom of the vehicle lower part, becomes possible.
- a device of the type described at the outset which is distinguished in that the flexible shafts arranged in a manner known per se for practically strain-free absorption of tensile forces are arranged on either side of the vehicle in one of two curved guideways are both congruent in shape and each have a high, narrow, closed loop at the front end of the arch, both of which are also identical, the flexible shafts at their rear ends are connected to the roof guided in guide rails via articulated drivers, while their front ends are each connected in the closed loop running ends, each with a lever of a known type for moving the rear compartment cover, are each individually connected and can be driven by a common drive, not shown, via two drive wheels each assigned to one side, to continue known limit switches and interlocks are provided between the front roof edge and the frame of the windshield.
- a manually operable locking of the rear compartment cover can advantageously be connected to a safety shutdown of the entire device.
- the flexible shafts are steel cables which are known per se and which have a helical wire winding which is connected to the cable in a force-locking manner and enables the positive engagement of corresponding drives. They are advantageously guided in pipes which have a slot parallel to the pipe axis at the top or on one side for carrying out the cable connections.
- These tubes can advantageously consist of an abrasion-resistant, rigid plastic with a low coefficient of friction or of metal tubes.
- the slotted pipes made of plastic can be inserted into slotted metal pipes and / or arranged in pairs on each side of the vehicle with mutually pointing, i.e. internal, slits.
- the unavoidable sliding or separating points between the roof and the body lower part are sealed in a conventional manner by overlapping rubber lips or the like. Water that penetrates through undidnt places is usefully combined in collecting troughs and - as is known per se - led under the vehicle through suitable processes.
- a safety clutch can advantageously be provided between the drive motor and the movement mechanism. If, for example, the luggage and the area of the cable guides and guide rails are not effectively separated from one another in the rear area, which is easily possible by suitable means known per se, sudden driving maneuvers such as sharp braking, abrupt avoidance, etc. may result in the following moves a piece of luggage in such a way that the slip clutch responds and the roof can no longer be moved by the motor drive. Not only in such cases, but in general, the possibility of moving the mechanism "by hand" with the drive switched off and expressed has proven to be an important aid, especially since, for example, even if the drive fails for any reason, the locking of the vehicle by extending and attaching the roof is still possible. The unintentional sliding of the luggage in the trunk can be effectively prevented by suitably shielding the mechanism against the luggage space, which can be done in various ways within the framework of known measures.
- the roof Due to the pull on the roof of the rear driver, the roof is raised at the beginning of the retracting process or until just before touchdown when extending so that it is practically only supported in the running rails, which is why the friction between the roof and the lower part of the vehicle Minimum is reduced.
- the for Moving the roof required forces are limited to a minimum.
- the solution to the technical problem according to the invention has proven to be extremely reliable and problem-free in numerous operating hours.
- the extension or retraction process takes place within a few seconds. It has been found that the mechanism can be actuated at any time not only when the vehicle is stationary, but also when driving slowly, which is of great importance, for example in the event of sudden precipitation, particularly if this is during driving on a motorway or in another situation in which stopping is not possible should happen.
- Fig. 1 shows the device according to the invention in side view
- Fig. 2 shows an arrangement diagram in top view
- FIG. 1 The arrangement of the device according to the invention, in particular passenger cars, and its structure can be clearly seen in FIG. 1.
- the detachable roof or hard top 1 sits in the closed state firmly on dea body part 13 with the roll bar 17 so that the motor vehicle in this condition ia appearance - apart from the roll bar 17 - practically no difference from a normal limousine.
- the roof 1 is firmly connected at its front edge 1 ′ to the window pane 2, conventional sealing strips ensuring a rainproof connection.
- the order to increase the Security against mishandling an end switch installed in the connection point which is advantageous only via a separately attached safety release that can be bridged together with a manually operated lock in a special configuration fora such that the actuation of the travel mechanism can only be actuated after the lock has been released between. Roof 1 and windscreen frame 2 is possible.
- the entire tick compartment 4 of the vehicle is closed off by the rear compartment cover 3, which also contains the drain cover which is not shown separately.
- the rear compartment cover 3 extends in the rule up to the if necessary. rear - cut out the door, but in some cases it can also end earlier.
- the design is based on the individual circumstances of the respective vehicle. In any case, it must ensure trouble-free extension and retraction of the roof 1.
- the curved curved guide tracks 5 with the subsequent honing, narrow, in the embodiment shown in the drawing, each from an upright angle with one of the two legs on the Open loop connecting open arc existing closed loop 6 of the suction device 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, and the rails 10 are arranged.
- Their basic arrangement can be seen in Fig. 2; Their function is generally explained in more detail.
- Flexible shafts 11, 12 run in the guideways 5 and loops 6, which, in a preferred embodiment, each consist of a steel cable 11 as a core and a spiral-shaped, force-locking wire wrap 12 connected to the 3 core 11.
- This wire coil 12 has a constant slope.
- the length of each flexible bark 11, 12 is the same.
- Their front ends are each connected to the rear hand of the detachable roof 1 with a lever 8 for actuating the rear cover 3 and the rear ends are connected to a preferably stiff connection 9 suitable for absorbing tensile and compressive forces.
- the guide tracks have a widely curved section 5 and a high, narrow loop 6. Both sections serve different functions.
- the roof 1 running with the help of corresponding sliding devices fastened to its rear edge in the running rails 10 is moved only by the section running in the wide curved part 5 of the guideways, while the section running in the loop 6 of the respective flexible shaft 11, 12 does the job has to open and close the trunk cover 3 with the lever 8.
- the stretched length of the loop 6 is not less than the distance that results between the two extreme positions of the articulated parts 16 each with the roof retracted and attached. Rather, it should advantageously go at least by a length which corresponds to that of the arc engaging in the drive wheel 7, beyond the amount determined by the maximum ⁇ eg of the articulation point 16.
- the rails 10 which are strongly curved upwards, ensure that the roof 1 is lifted over any luggage that may be present in the trunk when it is extended and retracted. It is raised at the beginning of the retracting process or until immediately before the extended roof is placed in such a way that it is practically supported only in the running rails 10, whereby the friction between the roof 1 and the vehicle lower part 18 is reduced to a minimum.
- Fig. 3 shows an end section of the construction in plan view
- Fig. 4 shows the section along A - B in a so-called German projection.
- two flexible shafts 11, 12 run on each side of the vehicle in associated guide tracks 5, 6, which are laid in strictly parallel fashion.
- the clamps used for the common fastening of the two associated partial guideways 5, 6 can be replaced by a continuous stiffening 14, which can also encompass the two guide tubes 13 even further than shown in FIG. 4.
- the two fixing clamps 15 which provide the fixed connection to the flexible shafts are connected by a pin 16, with which levers 8 or 9 are pivotally connected.
- the arrangement of the guideways 5, 6 and the running rails 10 in Fig. 2 is scheratic.
- the fairly wide distance between the running rail 10 and the guideway 5, 6 on each side in the illustration is expediently kept as small as possible in the practical embodiment. It has also proven to be helpful if the actual trunk is separated from the area of the guideways 5, 6 and running rails 10 in a suitable manner.
- the drive 7 is switched on.
- the flexible shafts 11, 12 are in their front position, the connection between flexible shaft 1 1, 12 and lever 8 is in the right part of loop 6 at the base.
- the connection 9 is in the upper position.
- the counterclockwise rotating drive wheels 7 push the flexible shafts 1 1, 12 in their guide tracks backwards, whereby the Anlekstel len 1 6 in the loops 6 moves up and the rear compartment cover ⁇ raised and by the rear link parts 16 - accordingly coordinated - the roof 1 is pushed backwards and is raised at the front, so that it is guided securely through the rails 10.
- a dash-dot line between the tailgate 3 'and the roof 1 is shown in dash-dot lines. It shows how the roof is lifted over existing luggage in the pepper room 3.
- the device can again be secured against unintentional actuation with the aid of a manual lock with a safety shutdown. It has proven to be very expedient if the manual lock is connected to a safety lock for the rear compartment cover 3.
- the device according to the Invention is simple in structure and consists of only a few parts. It has proven to be practically trouble-free. The change between closed and open state can be carried out within a very short time and not only when the vehicle is stationary, but also when driving slowly, so that it can be adapted to the weather conditions at any time. In the meantime, it has proven its reliability many times.
