DESIGN FOR COFFlN-HANDLE SOCKET.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,327, dated May 11, 1875; application filed May 4, 1875. [Term of Patent 7 years.]
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that GILBERT Roenns, of \Vest Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Coiiin-Handle Socket; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent a front View.
This invention relates to a design for the sockets by which the lifting-handles are secured to a cotiin; and it consists in the peculiar configuration of the base of the socket, as shown in the accompanying illustration, and hereinafter described.
The center upon which the socket-ears are made represents a rectangular form, the angles turning inward at top and bottom in scroll shape, and upon the two sides a semi-elliptical projection is made, and turning outward at the center into a point by a reverse curve, the two ends terminating in a tongue-shaped ornament.
The surface is ornamented by a trneery in relief, but this ornamentation constitutes no part of the design.
