DWIGHT L. SMITH, OF VVATERBURY, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO \VATER- BURY BUCKLE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,682, dated May 14, 1878; application filed April 30, 1878. [Term of patent? years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DWIGHT L. SMITH, of Waterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Buckle; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view.
This invention relates to a design for a buckle, and of that class known as suspenderbuckles; and consists in the configuration as shown in the accompanying drawing, and hereinafter described.
"The body of the frame is substantially a parallelogram, the angles rounded; the lower bar a is extended so as to form the hook b. This extension starts from the bar a, near each end, in a scroll form, and downward toward the center, thence turning outward obliquely, as at c, thence inward, forming oil'sets d, and the said offsets connected by a semicircle, and from which the hook I) springs. The upper bar 6 is tipped with a central ornament, which may be dispensed with, the peculiar shape of downward projection from the lower bar constituting the peculiar characteristics of the design.
The design for buckle herein described, consisting of the frame with rounded corners, and the downward or hook projection from the lower bar, of the shape described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
DWIGHT L. SMITH.
