Description
W. F. OSBORNE. Buckle.
No. 199,856; Patented Jan. 29,1878.
NFETERS FMOTGLITHOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON n C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILBUR F. OSBORNE, OF ANSONIA, CONNECTICUT.
lMPROVEMENT IN BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 199,856, dated January 29, 1&78; application filed November 22, 1877. t
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILBUR F. OSBORNE, of Ansonia, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Buckles, and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying; drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to bea full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in
Figure 1, a front View; Fig. 2, a vertical central section.
This invention relates to an improvement in that class of buckles used for suspenders and hook shape, as seen in Fig. 2, but longitudinally, or in the plane of the buckle, a segment, as seen in Fig. 1. The brace ends, or the connectionbetween them, which is round, is passed through this loop (1, and forms a support at an easy bend in the Suspender-ends, and is a support which will produce as little wear as possible.
This construction, therefore, dispenses with the necessity of the usual double metallic connection necessary between the suspenderen ds and the buckle.
I am aware that a loop segment in shape has been used in connection with a hook on the buckle. I therefore do not wish to be understood as broadly claiming such a loop to form the support or bearing for the suspend erends; but
What I do claim is'.
A buckle the frame of which extends downward to form a segment-shaped loop, substantially as describe WILBUR OS BORNE.
Witnesses FRANKLIN BURTON,
O. D. CHEESMAN.
