SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,214, dated octeber 22, 1901.
Application flied September 23,1901, Serial No. 76,298. Termof patent 7 years.
To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN M. DODD, a subject of the King of Great Britain, (but having declared my intention of becoming a citizen of the United States,) residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Portable Basket-Crates, (Case A,) of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to what is known in the trade as a portable basket-grate for fireplaces.
In the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, the invention is illustrated in perspective view.
As shown in the drawing, the leading or material features of my design consist of cylindrical corner-posts ornamented with diverging garlands and scrolls or ribbons and intersecting beads in high relief and bowed front legs or feet, each with a central shell-like ornament. Between the corner-posts is a front grille having spindles of c'onv'entinaliz'fed lyre-like shape with alternating oval figures. There is a plain base-'molding and also a partly# plain and partly-tinted top molding. The back has curved'sides and an arched top with a central Sunburst, beneath which last is a garland with end pendants, the Sunburst, garland, and pendants being produced in high relief. The upper portion of the basket proper is flat and plain.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a portable basket-grate, snb= stantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 16th day of September, A. D. 1901.
JOHN M. DODD.
