(Application filed Aug. 18, 1900.)
3mm: 11 .11. jw flamzd UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM H. MCDONALD, OF TITUSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A GARDEN-HOE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,229, dated September 18, 1900. Application filed August 13, 1900. Serial No. 26,797. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whont it may concern:
Be it known that LWILLIAM H. MCDONALD, a citizen of the United States of Arnerica,re siding at Titusville, in the county of Crawford and State of Pen nsylvania, have invented .nd produced a certain new and original Design for Garden-Hoes, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a certain new and novel design for garden-hoes, and has for its object to provide a design for a garden-hoe of new and original shape.
As shown in the accompanying drawings, the garden-hoe consists of the novel outline and configuration which will be hereinafter more fully described and specifically pointed out.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout both views, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of my new and original design for a garden-hoe. Fig. 2 is a side view thereof.
In the drawings, 1 indicates the handle which is substantially cylindrical in crosssection and tapers toward one end, while the opposite end is formed wedge-shaped, as at 2, which is segmental in cross-section and terminates into the hoe-blade 3. The wedgeshaped portion of the handle is bent at an angle to the remaining part and terminates into the curvilinear portion 4, which projects over the top of the hoe-blade 3. The wedgeshaped portion of the handle is of greater width than the remaining portion thereof. The hoe-blade 3 is fiat and has each side formed elliptical in contour, as at 5, and the top edge rounded off at the corners, as at 6, and the central portion of the top edge curved, as at 7, which is in alinement with the upper edge of the wedge-shaped portion 2 of the handle.
8, 9, and denote a series of ellipticalshaped prongs. Between each pair is arranged an inverted curvilinear V shaped opening 11, the top thereof being formed in a horizontal manner, as at 12. The sides of the V-shaped opening converge outwardly and inwardly from each end of the horizontal portion 12.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a garden-hoe, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM H. MCDONALD.
