UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES SWAN, OF SEYMOUR, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A FlRMER-CHlSEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,139, dated. February 26, 1901.
Application filed January 24:, 1901. Serial No. 44,635. Term of patent 14 years.
F all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES SWAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seymou r,county of New Haven, State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original De- .sign for a Filmer-Chisel, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which Figure 1 isa plan view of my novel firmerchisel; Fig. 2, an edge view, and'Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 3.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a firmer-chisel having a shape substantially as shown in the drawings, and comprising straight sides inclining slightly toward each other from edge to base and inclining slightly inward from bottom to top, the bottom being fiat, the top consisting of two planes lying at a very obtuse angle to each other and intersecting at a center line which inclines slightly toward the bottom from the base forward and the edge being formed by the intersection with the bottom of a plane lying at an acute angle to the bottom.
In the said drawings, denotes the bottom, 11 the sides, which incline slightly toward each other from edge to base, as from a to b, and also incline inward from bottom to top, as from c to d, and 12 denotes planes lying at a very obtuse angle to each other, which together comprise the top. These planes intersect the tops of the edges, as at d, and also intersect each other at the center of the top. The center line, which is indicated by e, inclines from the base forward, as fromf to g, and terminates in a plane 13, which lies at an acute angle to the bottom, the edge 1-1 being formed by the intersection of plane 13 with the bottom.
Having thus described myinvention, what Iclaim as new,and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a firmer-chisel, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES SWAN.
