Description

015-126. OR 0280569 EX DESIGN.
H. W. BOLENS.
SIGKLE GRINDER BASE.
No. 28,569. Patented May 10, 1898.
/3. iffy? 5 -M UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARRY IV. BOLENS, OF PORT W'ASIIINGTON, \VISGOXSIN.
DESIGN FOR A SICKLE-GRINDER BASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,569, dated May 10, 1898.
Application filed March 4, 1898. Serial No. 672,607. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HARRY W. BOLENS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Port WVashington, in the county of Ozaukee and State of Vv isconsin, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Sickle- Grinder Base; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a plan View, and Fig. 2 a view in side elevation, of a sickle-grinder base embodying my new deslgn.
My design relates to the new and original shape or configuration of the article.
The leading feature of this design for a sickle-grinder base consists in a fiat plate of uniform height, having sides straight and parallel with each other at the rear end for nearly half the length of the plate, the said rear end and the front end of said plate being formed on series of rounded lines, there being a pair of rounded convex projections, one at each edge, on the upper surface of said plate near the rear end, and a pair of triangular framelike projections on said upper surface extending from about the central transverse line of the plate to a transverse line forward of said first-named transverse line.
Minor features of my said design include the triangular frame-like projections O O, with their apices c pointing to the rear of the plate A, and with said apices constituting the highest points of said projections; also, beveling the outer walls of said projections C 0 downward and outward on the two side walls of the triangle, as best indicated by the line a d in Fig. 2 5 also, inclining the upper surfaces of the walls of said triangular frame-like projections obliquely from rear to front, as best shown by the line 0 b in Fig. 2 5 also, the outer side surfaces of the front or base walls of the triangular projections C vertical, as best indicated by the line b a in Fig. 2; also, the curved lines of the rear end of the plate A follow the general lines of ogees from the points 6 to the points f and between the points ff, following a curved convex line; also, the curved lines of the front end of the plate A follow the arc of a circle from the point g to the point h. Then from the point It to the point 2' the said line follows the line of another circle of different diameter, and from the point i to the pointj the line is on the arc of a circle corresponding exactly to the are 9 71. On one side of the plate A the outer side line extends straight from the point e to the point 7.1, and then the outer side line is curved outward to the point 171, and from that point to the point 9 the said side line is an oblique straight line following the line of the adjacent oblique wall of the projection C. On the other side of the plate A the outer side line extends straight from the point e to the point j, the line between the points 6 It on one side being parallel with the line between the points e on the other side of said plate A. The projections B 13, near the rear end of the plate A, rise on straight lines from the points n n to the points 0 o, and the upper ends of said projections between the points 0 o are drawn on a semicircular line, the outer and inner side walls of the said projections B B being vertical and parallel with each other.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a sickle-grinder base, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HARRY \V. BOLENS.
