UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS J. OWENS, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A MONUMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,724, dated November 22, 1898.
Application filed October 3, 1898. Serial No- 692,561- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, THOMAS J. OWENS, a itizen of the United States, residing in the ity and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Monument, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The figure is a perspective View of my design for a monument.
My design comprises a base A, having an essentially rectangular bottom, with the sides and ends inclining inwardly toward the top, and the top also inclined, so that one end is higher than the other. The angles 0 of the rectangle are cut away, so that the base A presents two upwardly-converging sides a of essentially the same length, two upwardlyconverging ends a of less length than the sides, and the four angular faces 0, connecting the sides and ends.
The tablet D, which rests upon the top of the base, has a flat surface, the side edges forming concaved arcs d and the upper end having the straight edges 6 and the central angular projection f. The lower end is formed by the edges g, forming an obtuse convex central angle, and the corners of the tablet are cut away at h to correspond, essentially, with the angular corners C of the base.
Having thus described myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a monument or similar article, substantially as shown and described. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
THOMAS J. OWENS.
Witnesses: I
