UNITED STATES P TENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM G. HARPER AND WILLIAM H. FROMHART, OF MUNCIE, INDIANA.
DESIGN FOR A PICTURE-'HOLDING EASEL.
SFECIFIGATION forming part Of Design No. 30, 541, dated April 11, 1899.
Application filed January 25, 1899. Serial No. 703,386- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, WILLIAM G. HARPER and WILLIAM H. FROMHART, citizens of the United States, residingat Muncie, in the county of Delaware and State of Indiana, have 'nvented and produced a new and useful and riginal Design for a Picture-Holding Easel; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The design relates to a picture-holding easel designed to hold a picture and is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective View showing our design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, and Fig. 3 isa rear elevation.
In the drawings, A designates the body portion of the design, which is formed substantially in the shape of a horseshoe. The lower ends of the body portion are connected by the portion B. This portion B is in the form of a graceful upward curve. The front'and rear surfaces thereof are flush with or in the same parallel plane as the front and rear surfaces of the portion A, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3.
On the front face of the portion A are formed the grooves C. These grooves are located on the front faces of the opposite portions of the body portion and extend from a point adjacent the top to a point adjacent the bottom of the said body portion. Extending out from the grooves O are the nails D. These nails extend at substantially right angles to the body portion, as shown in Fig. 2.
Secured to the rear face of the body portion A are the inwardly-extending curved clamps E. WVe provide three of these clamps, one adjacent the upper portion of the rear face and one each on the rear faces of the opposite portions of the body portion, the lower disposed clamps being oppositely positioned in relation to each other. The upper clamp is provided with a circular extension E. In the circular extension E is adapted to be secured a support F.
The leading features of our design consist of the body portion A, the upwardly-curved connecting portion B, flush with thebodyportion, the grooves on the front face of the body portion, the nails extending therefrom, and the inwardly-extending curved clamps on the rear face of the body portion positioned as hereinbefore described.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a picture-holding easel, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof we have hereunto affixed our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
