UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN B. REARICK, OF FALLS CREEK, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A SPOOL-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design NO; 30,263, dated February 28, 1899. Application filed January 31, 1899. Serial lio- 7O4 OB4. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J 011:: B. REARICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Falls Creek, in the county of Clearfield and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Design for a Spool-Holder; and Ido declare the following to be afull, clear,- and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new and useful design in spool holders or racks such asare adapted for household use.
My design is clearly illustrated in the accompanyingdrawings, in which I have shown, in-- Figure 1, a. perspective view of one side of the holder, and in Fig. 2 I have shown a reverse view of the holder or a view opposite or in the rear of that shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the spool-holder.
The design consists of the base-board of octagonal shape, from the center of which rises a square post with slightly-beveled edges, and immediately in advance of the said post is an ornamental support carrying a shelf at right angles thereto, the forward or rounded surface of this support having an indentation slightly below its center, from which radiate the slits or grooves downward and outward to its bottom. The upper forward portion of the support is outwardly extended and has a convex surface, while the rear upper portion of the support extends back at right angles to the upright portion of the support. 011 the rear side of the octagonal board is an ornamental column which has a series of grooves each beveled to an apex toward the center of the column and a space A intervening between each three of the portions divided by the said grooves. The upper end of the column has the four beveled surfaces, which bear against the under side of the shelf B, superimposed on said column. This shelf is semicircular on one side in outline, and its front edge is cut away, forming a series of scallops B, and centrally from the said shelf rises acylindrical shaft supporting at its upper end a cushion of an oval-shape. Vertically disposed on the shelf is the partition adjacent to the said cylindrical post. This par tition has its ends outwardly scalloped, as at C and D, with the corners cut in the form of a semicircle, and thence the upper edge of the said partition is extended in a horizontal plane.
Disposed on the octagonal board forming the base of the holder is the double hook E, which is disposed at an angle of forty-five degrees, with the hooks turning downward, while vertical posts F are disposed on either side of the hook, one on the small shelf in advance of the central post and one opposite each of the outwardly-curved scalloped portions and the front edge of the said shelf, while depending from the semicircular upper corners of the said partition are the hooks K. Underneath the shelf, at its forward curved margin adjacent to the scallops, are the downwardlyarranged hooks M.
What I claim to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a spool holder, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN B. REARICK.
