D. MESSIUK.
NEWSPAPER RACK.
No. 27,229. Patented June 15, 1897.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAV ID MESSICK, OF TIMBERVILLE, VIRGINIA.
DESIGN FOR A NEWSPAPER-RACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,229, dated June 15, 1897.
Application filed April 29, 1897. Serial No. 634,479. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, DAVID MEssICK, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Timberville, in the county of Roekingham and State of Virginia, have invented and produced a certain newand original Design for Newspaper-Racks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to anew and original design for a newspaper-rack; and it consists of a rack of the shape, configuration, and ornamentation shown in the accompanying drawing, in which I have represented the rack in perspective.
The leading features of the design consist in a rectangular base-plate 1, having scalloped edges 2, the upper edge of which is provided with an arched bar 3, scalloped on its upper and lower edges. The body of the base-plate is formed with vertical rows of apertures or indentations near its ends, and near the upper edge of the base-plate is an ornamental "bar carrying spring paper-holcling arms 4, the lower cross-piece of which is provided with a lip 5 and the corners of which are provided with tassels 6.
A rack thus constructed is not only ornamental and pleasing to the eye, but is also useful, as many papers of different sizes and shapes may be held in position within convenient reach of those desiring to use them.
What I claim is- The design for a newspaper-rack, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID MESSICK.
