UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE W. REAM, OF CANTON, OllIO, ASSIGXOR TO THE BI'CIIER & GIBBS PLOIV COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A PLOWSHARE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,329, dated March 1, 1898.
Application filed December 31, 1897. Serial No- 665.247. Term of patent 14 years.
To all 1071 0122 it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. REAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio,
have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Plowshare, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the share embodying my new design, looking from the position of the arrow. Fig. 2 is a plan view. Fig. 3 is a bottom Vi6W showing the share of Fig. 2 inverted, and Fig. 4 is a perspective ,view showing the share from the side directly opposite from Fig. 1.
The leading features of my design reside, first, in the outline of the share, and, secondly, in its shape in relation to its surface.
As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the lines A B are approximately straight, the line B eonstituting one edge and curving at the front end to form the point C. The line D extends from the front edge of the point joining the line A. From the edge H the surface of the share rises on a curve, which is less toward the end E and greatest in the direction of the point F, as shown more clearlyin Fig. 1. This curve does not extend entirely to the front, but, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, diminishes as it approaches the front or point, andfiorming a crest along the line G, dips a little to the front of the point C and the front edge of the line D. In order to indicate the curvature of the line B, I have indicated the base-line at H, and this will show that the line B curves upwardly from the base-line at the point I. The under and rear side of the share is plainly shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a plowshare as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. BEAM.
