DESIGN.
Patented Dec. 3, IBM. C; E. ANDERSON.
PLOWSHARE.
(Applicntion filed 006. 9, 1899.)
'WJTNESSES: INVENTOR.
UNITED STATES ATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES E. ANDERSON, OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
DESIGN FOR A PLOWSHARE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,388, dated December 3, .1901.
Application filed October 9, 1899. Serial 1T0. 733,102- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at uth Bend, in the county of St. Joseph afnd ate of Indiana, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Plowshares, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying draw ings, forming a part thereof.
My invention relates to a new and original design for plowshares; and its object is to produce one which will be useful, as well as ornamental.
The essential feature of the design consists in forming the cutting edge of the share with a series of undulations or corrugations which are inclined upwardly and rearwardly and gradually merge into the flat, straight, thick sides of the body portion, the curves formed by the several undulations being of equal pitch on each side of the share and diminishing in length toward the rear end.
The design is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the share. 2 is a bottom edge view of the same.
I Fig. Fig. 3
is a Vertical section on the line so as of Fig. 1. In the drawings, a represents the flatthick body portion of the share, which gradually tapers downwardly to the sharp undulating cutting edge (1, which extends throughout the entire length of the share. Each of the curves 0' formed by the undulations are of a pitch equal to the pitch of the corresponding or coinciding curve on the other side and grad= ually diminish in length toward the rear end, as shown more clearly in Fig. 2. The undu= lations are inclined upwardly and rearwardly at an angle corresponding with the angle in which the share enters the soil or in a longitudinal line with the draft and gradually thicken until they merge into the main or straight body portion C6. The point at which the undulations join the body portion is about midway between the upper edge e and the cutting edge d. The front and rear edges fand g connect the upper edge e and the cutting edge d and form an acute angle with the latter.
That I claim is- The design for a plowshare substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
