DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION fo ming part of Design No. 20,946, dated July 14, 1891.
Application filed June 10. 1891. Serial No. 395.316. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom i/ Iii/l1 I'IIIII'AI'III Ile it known that 1, Woman ll. naus- SON, of Rochester, in the county ol. Monroe and State of New York, have invented and Produced a new and original Design for Heat lug-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, forming a part thereof.
The photograph shows a perspective view of a stove constructed in accordance with my design.
The leading features of my design consist of the peculiar shape and surface ornamentation of the stove as a whole and also of the shape and ornamentation of the separate sec tions hereinafter described.
The stove may, for convenience of description of the design, be divided into several sections, viz: the base 1, the ash-pit 2, the body 3, and the top l.
The base-section is composed of two parts, the lower one 5 rounded and provided with the more or less indented and curved lower edgeand the ornaments 6, extending from near the upper sides of the legs toward the center of the sides, and the slightly-curved ribs 7 at the extreme corners, intersected by a band 8. The upper part 5) of the base-section is also curved and rounded, its lower edge resting on top of part 5 and its upper part joining the lower part of the ash-pit section and pro vided with suitable surface ornamentations, such as shown, consisting of curved and involute lines and sprays.
'l'he ash-pit section is of substantial ogee or reverse curved shape, having the ornamental panels 10 on the sides and the ash'pil door ll at the front, which is provided with the usual damper openings. Between the ash-pit and body sections is a depending flange or apron lioruamented as sho\\-'n,and to this on opposite sides are secured the foot rest plates l rounded and provided with the ornamental sprays, ribs, and involutes there on,and with the upwardlvexlonding arms ll resting upon and secured to the flange if.
The body-section is divided at the corner b vertical beaded tllilllllllh ll), provided with projections or rorersed brackets l5, and i di\ idvd horimnlnll v l| lit-ads or hand l 'r, the
front portion ol' the lower horizontal section having double doors IT, provided with tho eross bars and spray-ribs IS, and the side door l9, ornamented by the cross-bars and sprays 20. Above the horizontal bands the body is provided with the doors ii at the front, having the cross-bars and sprays thereon, and the rosettes 9'2, and at the sides are provided doors fi hornamented with the ribs, sprays, and central rosettes 24. At the back of the body-seetion is provided a swelling bracket or shelf 32, suitably ornamented.
The top section 4 is provided with depend ing corner portions 25,joining the tops of the vertical column 14 of the body, and from the horizontal band 26 is rounded inward and down to these, and is also curved inward or recessed where the walls are joined by curved panels 27 of open-work ribs and sprays. The interiors of these recessed portions are ornamented by ribs and sprays, and at the corners over the columns it are rosettes 28. The top above the band 26 is rounded over and ornamented by thelines, sprays, and in volutes, and from the center rises the demo or lid 29, also ornamented by the sprays, &c.,and upon this lid is a small statuette or ornament 30, in the present instance representing a knight on horseback; but this figure may be changed without altering the leading features of the design.
\Vhat I claim as my invention is- I. In a design for stoves substantially as shown, the herein-describcd design for the stove-base section, consisting of the two su per-posed sections arranged and ornamented, as set forth,
