Application filed February 14, 1888. Serial No. 264,049. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whmn it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUGUST BUERMANN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Spurs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will, enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
l 1 the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevatioi of my newly-designed spur. Fig. 2 is a plan thereof. Fig. 3 is a section taken on line X, and Fig. 4 is a section taken on line Y.
L indicates the heel band or plate, which is convex on its front or outer face, a, as shown in Fig. 4. Said band or plate is widest at the center thereof, as at a, or where it receives the rowel-a1 ms 1), and from said center part the band tapers or contracts in width toward the extremities a, as shown in Fig. 1. The rowel-arms b, which extend from the front face of the heel-band, are also contracted toward their pivotal extremities b, the edges bordering the same and starting from a point, I), flush with the upper edge, a, of the heelband, and having a continuous unbroken outline around the pivot to the lower edge, a and appears to be of or about the widlh of the heel-band, and extends from the face of said heel-band directly in line therewith, or not bending up out of the plane of the heel-band, as in other designs of mine.
The outer faces of the rowel-arms are convex from the upper to the lower edges, as showndu Fig. 3 at b, the faces of s.id arms being unbroken by perforations and presenting a plain facing to view.
What I claim is- The design for a spur herein described and shown, which consists in a spur having rowelarms contracting in shape toward their pivotal extremities, and having the plain imperforate facing of about the width of the heelband and in line therewith presented to view in side elevation, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day of February, 1888.
AUGUST BUERMANN.
