SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,177, dated M'arch 13,1888.

Be it known that l, FRANCIS A. Corsis, of Indianapolis. county of Marion, and State of Indiana, have invented and produced aeertnin new and original Design for VVriting-Desks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying engraving, which illustrates the same.
The engraving represents a perspective View of my newly-designed desk, and will be readily understood therefrom.
Thedeskhasatable-top restingnponaframework. one end supported by two turned legs, the other by a pedestal which incluses aseries et' drawers. Beneath the top,and between the pedestal and legs of the desk. is a single long drawer. The top has a smooth flat surface, the edges extending over the frame-work and ornamented with neat ogee molding. The front of the drawer projects when closed beyoud the face el" the frame and the edges are beveled. The handles ofthe drawers are dat with rounded ends and beveled edges. The front corners of' the pedestal on eaeh side of the series of drawers are ornamented with flat pilaster molding with molded bases, as shown. Beneath the longer drawer are a couple of l small bracket-pieces ornamented with diagonal lines. l The leading features of my design consista molded edges of the table top. the pilasters upon the front corners of the pedestal with molded bases, the style ofthe handles, and i edges ofthe drawers, with the small brackets beneath the longer drawer.
I claim- The design for deskseomprising a tabletop l with molded edges resting upon a framework i supported at one end by turned legs, at the l other by a pedestal, its sides paneled, its front i corners ornamented with dat molded pilasters l having molded bases and inelosing a series ot' l drawers whose fronts have beveled edges and l flat handles with rounded ends and beveled i E l l edges, and a longer drawer with similar edges and handles beneath the top, at the left ofthe pedestal, all the drawer-fronts projeeting heyond the front face ofthe table-frame, as herein i shown and described. i in witness whereof l have hereunto set my l hand this 2d day of November, 1887.
