Abstract

18,180. Hatfield, J. Aug. 9. Book - cases; cabinets; chests and nests of drawers; shelves and shelf fittings.-Relates to sectional cabinets, bookcases, or cases to receive drawers &c. Each section is built up of metal plates 2 having flanges 4 which abut against the corresponding flanges of the adjacent sections. The sections are then united by rods 11, Figs. 5 and 11, having grooves adapted to engage with the flanges 4. The end and top sections are given a finished appearance by the use of rods of the shape shown in Figs. 3 and 4. The top and bottom plates 2 of each section are provided with flanges 5 for stiffening purposes. Each section is closed at the back by a plate 8, Fig. 7, folded at 20 over the rear flanges 5 of the top and bottom plates 2. The sides of each section are connected together by angle strips 7, Figs. 2 and 11, which may form runways for the drawer. Each section may be provided with a shelf 20, Fig. 13, stiffened by cross-bars 22 and adapted to rest upon the lowermost angle-strips 7 of the section.
