DESlGN FOR HANDLES FOR DISHES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,234, dated September 11, 1877; application filed July 23, 1877- [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN W. BURGESS, of the city of New York, county and State of New York, have originated and designed a Handle for the Uovers and Sides of Dishes and other goods of earthenware, of which the following is a fnll clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this specification, in which Figure l is a side view, and Fig. 11 a top View, of my design.
A represents the handle, which consists oi two square-formed segments, B B, the lower paras of which are attached to the cover or dis These segments are ornamented on the edges and top with straight moldings b b. The segments are joined together at the top by aid of a circular disk or bail, c, surmounted with an ornamental Greek cross.
In the top of the cover, or on the sides of the dish, whereto the handle is attached, are placed ornaments d d, in form of ends of bands, running out from the lower part of the handle over the surface of the cover or dish.
A band, 6, is placed across the lower end of the handle, where the ornamented dcolnmence.
What I claim as my invention is A design for handles for dishes, consisting of the base-molding with its diverging end straps d and band e, and the semicircular top B, ornamented at its center with the ball or disk 0, surmounted with an ornamental Greek cross, as shown and described.
