DESIGN FOR A COVERED DISH.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No. 23,748, dated October 30, 1894.
Application filed September 29, 1894. Serial No. 524,5 22- Term of patent 5% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES W. FRANZ- HEIM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wheeling, in the county of Ohio and State of West Virginia, have invented a new and original Design for Covered Dishes, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a new and original design for covered dishes.
The object of the present invention is to provide an ornamental and attractive covered dish; and the essential feature resides in a covered dish having the handle of its cover, and the adjacent part of the latter, ornamented with leaf work and flowers, and havingits body portion ornamented at the ends with leaf work, and provided at the upper edges with ornamental scallops, and having an ornamented and scalloped base.
In the drawingsw-Figure 1 is a side view of a covered dis'h showing my new and original design. Fig. 2 is a plan View. Fig.3 is an end elevation.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a covered dish or tnreen having its upper edges 2 scalloped, and provided below the same with ornament.l scroll work 3.
The handles 4 of the dish are located at the ends, and have their upper faces ornamented with scrolls, and they are provided with oval openings 5.
The ends 6 of the body of the dish are ornamented with leaf work as shown; and the base 7 is scalloped at the edges, and is ornamented with scrolls, and other ornamentation as shown. The sides adjacent to the base are provided with lower swells or bulged portions 8.
The cover 9 is ornamented around the handle 11 with leaf work,and the handle is orna- 4o
