To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLEs W. FRANZ- HEIM, a citizen of the United States, residing at W'heeling, in the county of Ohio and State of West Virginia, have invented a new and original Design for a Covered Dish, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for covered dishes; and it has for its object to provide a design of this character that shall be both useful and ornamental.
The leading feature of the design resides in a covered dish the body portion of which is provided intermediate of its top and bottom with a continuons annular series of wavelike scallops ornainented with a continuous narrow fringe of shellwork in relief, the separate portions of the shellwork fringe on the ridges of the wave-like scallops being arranged on a curved line, and the cover of which dish is provided with a centrally-located elliptically-shaped raised portion having an ornamental scalloped edging of alternate shell and scroll Work, and the handles at the ends of the body portion and the handie of the cover having scalloped edges and shellwork between their ends and scrollwork at their ends.
In the drawings, Figure I is a side elevation of a covered dish embodying the hereindescribed design. Fig. 2 is a top plan View thereof. Fig. 3 is an end view of the dish.
Referring particularly to the drawings, the numeral l designates the body portion of the dish, which is provided intermediate of its top and bottom with a continuous annular series of wave-like scallops 2, ornaniented with a continuons narrow fringe of shellwork 3 in relief, the separate portions of the shellwork fringe 3 on the ridges of the scallops 2 being arranged on a curved line. The body portion l of the dish is further provided with a scalloped base 4, having shellwork thereon, and at its opposite ends with handles 5, having scalloped edges (i and shellwork 7 between their ends and serollwork 8 at their ends.
The cover 9 of the dish is provided with a plain peripheral scalloped edge l0 and with a centrally-located elliptically-shaped raised portion 1l, having an ornamental scalloped edging 12 of alternate shell and scroll work 13 and 14, respectively. At the central portion of the elliptically-shaped raised portion l1 is located the handle 14 of the cover, which, like the handles 5 on the body of the dish, is provided with a scalloped edge l5 and shellwork 16 between its ends, and at its ends with scroliwork 1G, which is continued in relief on the raised portion ll, as indicated at 17.
What I claim is- The design for a covered dish herein shown and described.
