SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 25,693, dated June 30, 1896.
Application filedll'ay 27,1896. Serial No. 593,846. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
lo it known that I, GEORGE ROCKWELL, of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for the Handles of Spoons, Forks, and Kindred Articles; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view of a handle embodying my design.
My invention relates to a new and original design for the handles of spoons, forks, and kindred articles of table-service; and the design consists in the configuration and ornamentation of the handle, as herein shown and described.
My newly-designed handle comprises a long gourd-shaped medallion A, arranged with its smaller end extending inward. It is flanked on either side by three long frond-like scrolls a, a, and 0 the spaces between the scrolls a and a being occupied with small shell-like figures a The tip of the handle is formed by a large shell-like ornament A, interposed between the enlarged ends of the scrolls u. The smaller inner end of the medallion A is flanked by scrolls a, one of which overlies it. Still further inward on the handle are scrolls (1- of leaf-like form. Thence inward the edges of the handle are flanked by ribs a, which terminate in a scroll (F. The design for the handle as a whole partakes of the rococo form of decoration now in vogue.
I claim- The design for the handles of spoons, forks and kindred articles, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GEO. ROCKVELL.
