Figure l is i. perspective. View Showing the Y application of the iii'vention. Fig. Q is o perspective View of the device detached end illustrated with the jaws coveredand provided with the pocketbook or receptacle. Fig. 3 is e cioss-secti.on on line 3-23 of Fig.
Q. Fig, l is e perspective view of the device per se' Without the covering or receptacle.
In its structural organization, the device is preferably formed oit' e single .length` or continuous strip of vifirevor other suitable materiel, the central or intermediateport-ion of the Wire being; first coiled to i'orm zi, sus
i pending loop or eye L and thence bent down- Werd, on opposite sides ot the loop to opposil'ely disposed firms 2 and 3, and thence y projected inwardly and laterally/to `provide stems 4i and 5 respectively connecting seidA iii-ms with the upi'ior ends ot o. pair of oblongl rectangular siiii'ing purs 6 sind 7, orined by properly bent continuations of the tei#y ininels of the Wire lroin llio seid Steins. The
arms 2 and 3 constitute operating arms or finger pieces which are normally held spaced :ipertthrough the ring action of the coil l to maintain the jaws (3 and 7 in clamping engagement, and which are adopted to be ,pressed toward one another to open or force the jews eport against the resistance of such ,pring fiction. The coil l, inA addition to performing suon fonction, serves :is e sus'- pending eye for engagement with i suitable supporting device, such es n strep 8, adopted for engagement with the belt around the Waist of the wearer or sonic other suitable part of the dress of the wearer. The device may be employed in the iori'n'shown in Fig. for use n clasp to engage the dress skirt for the purpose ot supporting' the seine et a. suitable elevation nur! edge of the skirt from trailing alongl the `ground or floor surface, or for holding n. handkerchief, pockets-bool: or any other desired article. The sides of the jaws may be corrugated or otherwise suitably constructed to forni along the length thereof shoulders i or teeth 9 to adept tliein to firmly and securely grip the article to be held. ln Figs. l, 2 and 8 have shown the jaws 6 and 'Y of the clnnip enveloped by coverings or pockets l() sind ,ll oit' leather or other snit-- able material.' VUpon the enter' face of the covering or pocket surrounding one of the jaws, the jew G, is arranged a pocket book oi' other like receptacle l2 having :i cover or closing flap l3- aclzipted to be secured in closet position by the ordinary stud and socket fastener i4. The inner Wall of this poclieteboolr or receptacle inn-y be foi-ined by the adjacent side' ofj the cover 10, or said receptacle may be complete in itselfV and suitably ett-ached to the said adjacent side. of the cover 10, it being apparent in either case the receptacle forms a permanent-et tachinent of the clasp or holder and does not interfere with the normal use 'of the jews Gnnd 7, which may be opened oi' forced eport by compressing the ernis 2 und. 3 to engage the skirt or to hold e lizii'idkerchief or other article. :indthet upon the release oi. pressure iioin the arms the spring coil. l'
preventing the in addition to forming a support for a pocket-book also provides a means for holding a dress skirt elevated or for holding any other desired article in a secure manner.
Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new is The herein described garment clasp or holder formed of a single piece of wire and comprising a pair of vertically disposed counterpart oblong rectangular clamping jaws, said jaws being formed by the terminal portions of the wire which are bent to par' tially form the upper cross bars of the jaws, a spring coil formed by the central portion of the wire and constituting a suspending loop arranged transversely of and above the C: J.
