SAMUEL MAYPER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 783,881, dated February 28, 1905.
Application filed December 9, 1904. Serial No. 236,107.
.To all 1071 0111 it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL MAYPER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Hose-Supporter, of which the .followingis a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to lHlDIOVGlTlGlIlZS in hose-supporters, and more particularly to combination hose-supporters and abdominal or hip pads. ln devices of this kind it has been the practice to makethe pad portion of the device in practically one piece; but in practice such a construction does not work to the best advantage.
The object of my invention is to produce a device in which a plurality of pads are used and in which these are supported from the waist in such a way that the draft between the waist-line and the hose will be such as to bring the bearing parts of the pad against the right portions of the body and with the best effect. In a single pad no adjustment or little adjustment is possible; but with the plural pads as 1 use them they can be adjusted so that the draft will be in the best place for ease or pressure, and the parts can be adjusted back and forth in relation to each other on their supporting-belt, so that they can be made to lit the body to a nicety. Moreover, if desired, the pads can be slipped apart so that they will not bear across the abdomen, but
will extend downward from the-hips, and it it will be seen, therefore, thatl provide for a nice adjustment to suit people of different shapes or inclinations.
To these ends my invention consists of certain features of construction and combinations of parts, which will be hereinafter described or claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification,
but, if desired, other n'ieans can be used for fastening the pad and belt together without departing from the principle of the invention. The arrangement described, however, permits the pads to be very readily adjusted back and forth on the belt in relation to each other. The arrangement just described also forms a very secure attachment between the pad and the belt, and as the pad directly attached to the belt and slidable thereon it hangs better than where intervening or connecting devices between the pad and belt are used, and it dispenses with all metallic or similar fastenings, which are always objectionable. The pads at their lower edges carry the hose-supporting straps let, which can be of any usual kind and which can be provided with any usual fastening device at 15 to secure them to the stockings.
It will be seen that by crossing the pads, as in Fig. 1, they make an excellent abdominal SUDDOltQl', and it will be understood that the adjustment provides for fitting any usual ligure, and it will be further seen that if an abdominal pad is not desirable the pads 12 may be slipped apart, as in Fig. 2, and permitted to hang over the hips. in either case the device is easily applied, easily adjusted, and serves its purpose perfectly.
Having thus fully described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent---- A device of the kind described, comprising a waist-belt, a pair of pads, each pad havinga pair of vertical slits to receive the belt so as to slide freely thereon and so arranged as to cross each other or be freely separated on the belt, and hose-swporting devices on the lower portions of the pads.
