Abstract
PURPOSE: To generate a strong magnetic field by utilizing repulsive force between each magnetic fluxes divided into two and increase the holding force of the magnetic fluid by a method wherein an annular recessed groove is formed on a magnetic pole piece interposed between two magnets to divide the magnetic flux into two parts.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of annular permanent magnets 5 are arrayed on the axial line of a rotary shaft 2 coaxially so as to the same polarities of the magnets may oppose to each other. Annular magnetic pole pieces 6 are interposed between respective permanent magnets 5 coaxially, and magnetic pole pieces 7 having the same polarity are provided at the outside of the outermost magnets and abutted to O-rings 8. Each annular recessed groove 9 is formed on the inner side surface of respective magnetic pole pieces 6 and the annular protruded parts 10, 11, formed at both sides of the recessed groove, are faced opposing to the rotary shaft 2 through a minute gap between the tips of the protrusions and the shaft, and thereby holding the magnetic fluid 12 annularly in respective annular gaps.
