SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 681,673, dated September 3, 1901.

Be it known that I, JOSEPH RANGELovroH, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented a new and useful Bouquet-Holder, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates generally to bouquetholders, and more particularly to one adapted to be worn upon the waist orcoat of a lady.

One object of the invention is to provide a holder which can be easily attached to the garment and which will support and hold a bouquet of large proportions, thereby avoiding the necessity of employing large pins for this purpose, which ordinarily tear the fabric.

Another object of the invention is to provide a holder which can also be utilized for carrying a photograph or miniature, thereby transforming the bouquet-holder into an ornainent.

With these various objects in view the invention consists, essentially, in constructing a holder of two sect-ions hinged together, one of the sections having a groove upon its inner face adapted to receive the stems of the iiowers, While the other section has an opening adapted to receive a miniature or photograph, said sections being adapted to fold together for the purpose of securing the flowers and also the photograph or miniature, the entire device being provided with a suitable pin for the purpose of attaching it to the garment.

In the drawings forming part of my specification, Figure l is a view showing the practical application of my invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the holder closed. Fig. 3 is an outside view of the holder opened, and Fig. 4 is an inside view of the holder opened.

In carrying out my invention I employ two sections A and B, said sections being hinged adjacent to their upper and lower ends by means of hinges C. The sections A and B can be of any shape desired; but in practice I prefer to shape them as shown in the drawings, n which they are broader at the top than at the bottom and when opened will produce an essentially heart-shaped figure. The section I3 has a longitudinal groove D produced in the inner face thereof, said groove extending from the top to the bottom of the section and being somewhat wider at its upper end than at the lower end. The section A has a circular opening E, adapted to receive and hold a photograph or miniature F, inserted from the inner face and held in place by any suitable filling or backing G, and, if desired, an ornamental encircling band II may be arranged upon the exterior of the section, as most clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3. A pin I is arranged upon the back of the section B, by means of which the holder can be fastened upon the garment, and a suitable keeper K is also carried by the section B for the purpose of securing the end of the pin I. Any suitable form of clasp or fastening de'- vice may be employed for locking the sections together. In practice the stems of the flowers are arranged in groove D, and the sections are then folded together and closed, as shown in Figs. l and 2. The flowers will thus be securely fastened in the holder, and it will be impossible for the photograph or miniature to Work loose from its socket or recess. The entire device can then be fastened upon. the coat or waist in any desired position. It will thus be seen that I provide an exceedingly cheap and simple bouquet-holder which will effectively perform all of the objects hereinbefore mentioned, and it Will also be noted that while the device is useful from a mechanical standpoint it can also be made highly ornamental.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isl A holder of the kind described consisting of two sections hinged together, one of the sections having a longitudinal groove produced in its inner face, the other section having an opening adapted to receive a miniature or photograph, and a pin arranged upon the back of the grooved section, substantially as shown and described.
