My invention relates to powder pufs and refers particularly to devices of this character of such Construction that the operative face of the puff is protected.

Powder putfs are of two general characters,

those which are encloscd in powder containers and those which are separate therefrom.

Powder puf's of the latter character are usually carried in hand bags, or similar receptacles, and hence the face of the puff is liable to become contaminated and unhygenic.

The puff of my invention is designed to overcome this objectionable feature, while at the same time being easy of Construction and presenting a pleasing appearance.

The device of my invention is composed of but two pieces, so sewed together that they produce a puff having a folding line arrangcd to give it an inclination to become folded with the operative faces abutting; one modification of my device having a pocket whereby the puff may be retained in such folded position.

The device of my invention, therefore, presents both economy of production and eiiiciency of usefulness coupled with hygienic properties.

The novelty and advantages of my device will be evident upon a consideration of my specification and its accompanying drawings.

In the modified forms of the device of my i nvention shown in the accompanying drawings similar parts are indicated by similar numerals.

hen it is desired to close the device prior a to placing it within a hand-bag or other receptacle, therounded portion of the front 10 is bent over at the line of the slit ll and inserted in the poeket formed by the flap 13 as shown in Figures 6-and 7 The face of the 3, front member 10 is thus folded upon itself and any powder adhering thereto will not come in contact with other articles in the receptacle.

The modified form of my device shown in a Figure 8 is similar to that previously described except that it has no fiap 13.

It will thus be seen that my device presents a powder pufl made of two pieces of material, so arranged that the operative sides may be folded upon each other, in which the edges of the two pieces at the lines of sewing are concealed and in which the slit, or opening, necessary for the formation of the device is also concealed.

I do not limit myself to the particular' s ze, shape, number, material or arrangement of parts as shown and described as these are gven simply as a means for clearly describing the device of my invention.

What I claim is 1. In a powder puff, in combination, a back member, a front member, stitchng connecting the entire edges of said two mem- 10 bers with the raw edges of said members concealed within the device, and a transverse line of stitches forming a turned over seam approximately mid-way of the end extremities of said members.

2. In a powder puff, in combination, a back i member, a front member having a transverse slit capable of allowing the passage of back member therethrough, stitching connecting the entire edges of said members with the 29 raw edges of said members concealed within the device and a transverse line of stitches connecting the said members and concealng said slit.

3. In a powder puff, in combination, a back member, a front member, stitching connecting the entire edges of said two members with the raw edges of said members concealed within the device, a pocket formed by said back member above the eXposed face of 30 said front member and capable of receiving a portion of the device when it is in folded position, and a transverse line of stitches forming a turned over seam approximately Iknidwayof the end eXtremities of said memers.
