DEVICE FOR PREVENTING PURSES FROM BEING STOLEN FROM THE POCKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 394,043, dated December 4, 1888.

To all whom it may concern.-
.Be it known that I, ELEANOR CAMPBELL VVHITLOOK, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing in London, in the county of Middlesex, England, have invented a Device for Preventing Purses being Stolen from the Person, (for which I have obtained a patent in Great Britain, No. 13,391, bearing date September 17, 1888,) of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a device which is attached to the purse for the purpose of preventing it being stolen from the person.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view showing the device attached to the purse, and Fig. 2 is a view showing the snap or clasp opened and the cord in position.
At the back of the purse A a suitable snap or clasp, B, is securely fixed by rivets or other suitable means. A cord, C, is threaded through the purse and crossed over inside the snap or clasp, which is then closed. At a suitable distance from this clasp I attach to the cord a suitable hook or fastener, D. The ends of the cord are then tied together, thus forming a loop which is placed over the head of the wearer, the hook or fastener being insert-ed in a button-hole or otherwise attached to the dress.
