Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Jun@ 22, 1915..
Application filed November 18, 1914. Serial No. 872,757.
To all whom t may concern f Be it known that I, ALFRED I-IAUsAMMANN, a citizen of Switzerland, residing at Peoria, in the county of Peoria and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Purses, of which the following is a specifica-tion.
This invention relates to improvements in purses and more particularly to a purse adapted to be attached to a pair of suspenders for use during hot weather when a person is not disposed to wear a coat or vest.
With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described in the following speciication, pointed out in the claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form a part of said specification and in which- Figure l is a front View of the purse showing its attachment to the suspender. Fig. 2 is a side view. Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 1. Fig. et is a plan View. Fig. 5 is a section taken on line 5 5 of Fig. Fig. 6 is a section taken on line G-G of Fig. 4;.
Like reference characters indicate corresponding parte throughout the several views.
The reference numeral l designates the suspender which terminally carries a transversely extending channeled metal piece 2 and to the same and to the suspender a cover is secured which comprises the flat pieces 3 and 4t, the face l being of greater length than the face 3 and the ends of the cover being open. The face 4 is apertured as at 5 and is projected to form a loop 6 that carries the suspender brace 7 and is then laid back upon itself and fastened in this position by pins 8 which also pass through a strap 9 which extends along the face 4 of the cover, for a distance, and through the opening 5 in that face and through alined openings 10 in the sack which comprises the folded piece 11, 1la whose ends normally lie upon each other at l2 and are retained in such position by the strap 9. rllhe strap 9 is provided with a button 13, of the glove fastener type, which engages a socket in the face 4.
The sack is provided with angle pieces ll that serve as supports and that keep the sides of the sack spaced away from each other. In Fig. l the purse is shown in position. To open the same to insert or remove money or other mattei' the button 13 is opened and the buttoned end of the strap 9 pulled out of the openings 10 and 5, the sack may now be withdrawn from the cover and the Hap or side 11 raised as shown in Fig. 5.
What is claimed is 1. A purse comprising a cover formed of a piece of material open at its ends and comprising flat sides, one of said sides forming a loop, an inner member folded in a U-shape, angle pieces carried by said member and fastening means releasably connecting said member and the cover for retaining them in operative relation with each other.
2. A purse comprising a cover formed of a piece of material open at its ends and comprising flat sides, one of said sides being longer than the other and forming a loop, an inner member folded in a U-shape, angle pieces carried by said member and a strap releasably connecting said inner member and cover for retaining them in operative relation with each other.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto afiixed my signature in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
ALFRED HAUSAMMANN.
