UNITED i STAT S FRED A. TAYLOR AND NATHAN FLINT, or SAN CALIFORNIA.
FRANCISCO,
COMBINED PURS AND HosE-suPPoR E SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 763,519,1iated June 28, 1904:.
Application filed A 511 19', 1904.
I0 all iuhom/ it puny concern;
Be it known that we, FRED A. TAYLOR and NATHAN E. FLINT, citizens of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Purse and Hose- Support; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, 'and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful im provements in pocket-books; and the object of the invention is to produce a simple and efiicient device of this nature which may be adapted to be fastened to hose-supporters, and in carrying out the invention it is our purpose to make the partitions between the compartments of the pocket-book with extended flaps, which .are adapted to fold one over the other for the purpose of closing the compartments, and in the provision ofa glovefastening button carried by the strap upon the back of the pocket-book and adapted to hold the pocket-book upon the straps of the hose-supporter.
Our invention consists, further, in various details of construction and in combinations and arrangements of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described and then-specifically defined in the appended claims.
Our invention is illustrated in the accom panying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of our invention illustrated as applied to hose-supporters. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation showing the manner of attachment of the pocket-book to the branching straps of the supporter.- Fig. 3 is a sectional View on line 3 3 of Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 is a detail view showing the construction of the partitions of the pocket-book.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a pad Serial No. 203,912. (No model) I,
which may be supported in anysuitable manner, and B Bdesignate straps secured to said pad, and C designates buckleswhich are secured to the straps vD attheir middle portions, and the tongues ofsaid buckles are designed to engage the straps B, whereby-the two series of straps may be detachably held together. The hose-supporting devices E are secured to the ends of the straps D. The pocket-book comprises the back F, having a contracted projecting portion F, forming a strap "which is adapted to be engaged by the tongue of one of said buckles, as illustrated, whereby. the pocket-book may be held to the hose-supporting straps.
G G designate the partitions dividing the pocket-book into compartments, the ends of said partitions projecting beyond the end of the pocket-book, forming flaps Gr, carrying socket members 9, which aredesigned to en-- gage the fasteners H, secured to the front face of the pocket-book in the manner illustrated in dotted lines in the drawings, in which position one flap overlaps the other in the manner illustrated.
Upon the back of the pocketbook is atransversely-arranged strapN, and asocket member O is secured to said strap, and directly underneath said socket member 0 is a fastener 0, designed to engage said socket member and form two loops either side of the button, through which the straps carrying the hose-supporting devices are adapted to pass and whereby the pocket-book is securely held to said straps. 7
By the provision of the apparatus shown and described it will be seen that a simple and efficient means is provided for holding a pocket-book to hose-supporting straps, so that there will be little likelihood of the pocketbook being lost or the contents therefrom.
While we have shown a particular detailed construction of apparatus illustrating our pocketbook andattach'ments therefor, it will be understood that we may make alterations in the detailed construction of the same, if found desirable, without in any way departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus fully described our invention,
what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A pocket-book and means for supporting the same comprising, in combination with the hose supporting straps, a pocketbook having its back extended to form an integral strap and engaged by the buckle of the hosesupporting straps, and means for holding the back of the pocket-book to the branching straps of the hose-supporter, as set forth.
2. A pocket-book and hose-supporting attachment comprising, in combination with the straps of a supporter, a pocket-book having the back thereof extended to form an integral strap engaged by the buckle of the hosesupporter, a loop secured to the back of the pocket-book, a socket member carried by said loop and a fastener secured to the back and engaged by said member, dividing the loop into two sections adapted to engage the branching straps of a hose-supporter, as set forth.
3. A pocket-book and hose-supporting attachment, comprising, in combination with the hose supporting straps, a pocket book having partitions of the compartments of the pocket-book extended beyond the end thereof forming flaps, socket members carried by said straps, fastening means secured to' the outer face of the pocket-book and adapted to be engaged by said flaps which are adapted to overlap each other, and a strap secured to the back of the pocket-book, a socket member carried by said strap, and a fastening member secured to the back of the pocket-book and adapted to be engaged by the socket member upon said strap, whereby two loops are formed to eifigage the straps of the supporter, asset ort In testimony whereof we hereunto aflix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
