WATCH-HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EUGENE W. HILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in atch-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to watch holders.

The object of the invention resides in the provision of a watch holder designed particularly for the use of motormen, engineers and other persons who have to frequently inspect their watches.

A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a watch holder which will efficiently secure a watch to a garment of the user in such position that it can be readily seen at all times, and which will permit of the watch being moved to such a position that it will be out of the way when not in use.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the seV-' eral views, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fragment of an ordinary coat showing the improved watch holder associated therewith and the parts of the latter in position to support a watch for inspection, Fig. 2, a perspective view of the holder with the parts thereof in the position shown in Fig. 1 and the watch receiving casing removed, Fig. 3, a perspective view of the holder with the parts thereof in folded position and the watch receiving casing removed, and Fig. 1, a side elevation of the watch holder with the parts in the position shown in Fig. 2 and the lid or cover of the watch receiving casing open.

Referring to the drawings, the invention is shown as comprising a continuous length of wire bent upon itself intermediately to form a pair of spaced contiguously extending U-shaped frames A and B adapted to receive between them a portion of a garment whereby the holder is supported for use. arms of the frames A and B is a rod 10 the terminals of which are provided with

11 and 12 loosely embracing respectively the arms of the frame B. It will be noted that the arms of the frame B adjacent their meeting point with the arms of the frame A are curved outwardly and inwardly as at 13 and 14 respectively so as to form relatively large openings 15 between the arms of the frame A and B at their meeting ends.

By the constructionjust described it will be apparent that the rod 10 can be partially rotated owing to the loos-e connection between the terminals thereof and the curved portions 13 and 141 of the arms of the frame B. The rod 10 has formed integral therewith a laterally directed U-shaped port-ion16 which in conjunction with the rod 10 forms a frame upon which is soldered or otherwise suitably secured a watch receiving case 17 having a hinged closure 18. The bight of the U-shaped portion 16 is contracted at 19 and bent away from the casing 17. Embracing the contracting portion 19 in a loose manner is the looped end 20 of a supporting bar 21. Likewise the bight of the frame B is contracted as at 22 and this contracted portion is loosely embraced by a loop 23 on the lower end of the rod 21. The frame A is further strengthened by a cross bar 24 connecting the sides thereof and disposed at a desired point between the rod 10 and the bight of said frame A.

From the foregoing construction it will be apparent that the supporting bar 21 may be manipulated from the position shown in Fig. 2 to the position shown in Fig. 3. This change in position of the supporting bar 21 will effect a partial rotation of the rod 10 and move the U-shaped portion 16 from a position substantially at right angles to the frames A and B to a position substantially parallel to said frames. When the U-shaped portion 16 is supported by the bar 21 in a position substantially at right angles to the frames A and B the casing 17 is properly disposed to permit the desired observation of the watch contained therein, it being understood that the frames A and B are supported upon the garment of the observer by receiving the front facing of a pocket of the garment be tween them as shown in Fig. 1. When it is desired to dispense with the use of the holder and position the casing 17 out of the way the supporting bar 21 is manipulated tion, consisting of a continuous length of wire bent upon itself to form cooperating U-shaped clamping sections adapted to receive a supporting part therebetween, the arms of one of said clamping sections being curved outwardly and inwardly to form eyes, a frame mounted in said eyes for movement to positions substantially at right angles and substantially parallel to the clamping sections, a watch receivingcasing carried by said frame, and a connection between the frame and one'of the clamping sections for supporting the former substantially at right angles to the latter, said connection being shiftable to permit the movement of the frame to a position substantially parallel to the clamping section.

2. A watch holder comprising a body portion consisting of a continuous length of Fig. 3 when the wire bent upon itself to form cooperating U-shaped clamping sections adapted to receive a supporting parttherebetween, a rod mounted between the arms of one of said clamping sections for partial rotation, a U- shaped portion formed integral with said rod and extending laterally therefrom and adapted to move to a position substantially 'atright angles to said clamping sections to a position parallel with said clamping sectionduringthe rotation of the rod, a watch receiving casingcarried by said U- shaped portion and rod, and a supporting bar having looped ends embracing the clamping section and said U-shaped portion respectivelyand slidable on the former,

said barbeing shiftable to permit movement of the frame from a position at rightangles to the clamping section to a position parallel to said clamping section. V
