EDWARD V. CROUSE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
GARTER-POCKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 19, 1916.
Application filed June 7, 1915. Serial No. 32,521.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD V. (house, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garter-Pockets, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to garter pockets in general, and in particular to a unitary article combining the function of a hose supporter with that of. an integral safety receptacle for money or other valuables; the object of my invention being to provide a combination of safety pocket and garter, that may be readily secured to the limb, artistic in form, cheaply manufactured, and possessing the desirable feature of being concealed by the stocking of the wearer.
I attain these objects by means of the article illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my pocket garter as it appears in use; and Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing, wherein the same reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views, 1 represcnts a common form of elastic garter ineluding a securing clip member 2 flexibly connected with one end thereof and adapted to cooperate with an eye member 3 carried by the opposite end of the garter in a manner to retain it in proper position upon the limb of the wearer, and t represents a con1- mon form of hose engaging means whereby the stocking may be connected with the garter,
5 represents a pocket having preferably a rectangular form and integral with the Copies of this patent may be obtained for body of the garter. The pocket is disposed 1n rear of the face of the garter and the hose engaging means 4, and extends clownward inside of the stocking and thereby concealed. The mouth of the pocket may be provided with a flap 5 having upon its free end securing means, as a glove button 6, that engages with a complemental member 7 carried upon the face of the garter. With the associated parts in use, the two walls of the pocket are pressed closely together at their upper ends by the elastic pull of the garter, and the body of the pocket is concealed by the stocking.
It is to be understood that While I have shown and described a preferred form of my device, I do not wish to be limited to this precise construction, but may make such changes as fall within the spirit of my invention as indicated by the appended claims.
IVhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. An integral pocket and garter having the garter secured to the front wall of the pocket below its mouth with the pocket disposed in rear of the body of the garter, hose engaging means depending from the body of the garter and adapted to retain a stocking in a pocket concealing position.
2. The combination of a garter and a pocket integral therewith and disposed in rear of the body of the garter, a flap having a button member adapted to coaot with a securing member carried by the body of the garter, and hose engaging means depending from the body of the garter and adapted to retain a stocking in a pocket concealing position.
