Description
F. 0. POTTER.
MEGHANIUS APRON.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 17. 1911.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK 0. POTTER, 0F TORRINGTON, CONNECTICUT.
MECHANICS APRON.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK O. POTTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Torrington, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mechanics Aprons, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to aprons, and more particularly to a mechanics apron embodying branches to cover and protect the wearers trousers and means to adjustably secure the apron and branches upon the wearers person in such manner that the former may remain free and flexible as usual.
With this in mind, my invention resides in an apron constructed in accordance with the following, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of the garment spread open, and, Fig. 2 is a rear elevation thereof.
Referring now to these figures, 5 is the body, and 6 the leg branches, these latter being independent of one another and secured at their upper ends upon the rear surface of body 5 above its center, by a transverse over-strip 7. The lower portion of the body thus hangs downwardly in front of the leg branches 6 and forms a free and flexible apron 8, hiding the crotch of the trousers and provided on its front surface with convenient and suitably shaped pockets 9.
The upper tapered end of the body 5 has a strip 10 extending from one side and a socket fastening member 11 at its opposite side, said strip being adapted to pass around Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 17, 1911.

Serial No. 633,712.
the wearers neck and having a series of members 12, any one of which may be secured in the socket 11.
At their upper ends, the leg branches 6 have side flaps 13, provided with relatively engageable fastening members 14, and adapted to be secured around the wearers body, and at their lower ends, these leg branches have similar side flaps 15 provided with similar fastening members 16 so they may be secured around the lower portions of the trousers. Thus the means for fastening the device upon the wearer permit the apron to remain free and flexible and the independent leg branches prevent pulling and twisting of the apron from place.
I claim A mechanics apron comprising a body portion, independent leg branches secured at their upper ends to the rear surface of said body portion and provided with upper and lower side attaching flaps, attaching means carried by said flaps, the lower portion of the body hanging free and flexible in front of said leg branches and a strip attached to and extending from the upper por tion of the body at one side and adapted to extend around the wearers neck, and relatively engageable fastening means carried by said strip and the opposite side of said upper body portion.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FRANK O. POTTER. Witnesses:
T. EARLE JOYCE, FRANK M. BALDWIN.
