Description

M. ALTMANN SUSPENDBR TRIMMING.
(No Model.)
No. 255,404. Patented Mar. 28,1882
INVENTOR:
ATrRNEv.
v UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MORITZ AL'IMANN, OF CA'MDEN, NEW JERSEY.
SUSPENDER-TRIMMING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 255,404, dated March 28, 1882.
Application filed January 25, 1882.
T call whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MORITZ ALTMANN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Camden, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Suspender-Trimmings, which improvement is fullyset forth in the following speciiication and accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front view4 of the suspendertrimming embodying my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 are front views of modifications thereof. Fig. 4 is a section in line x or, Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a section in line y y, Fig. 2. Fig. Gis a section in line z z, Fig. 3.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the severaligures.v
My invention consists of a suspender having a plate connectible to the buckle and provided with a spring-fastening and with tabs which are pivoted to said plate, the pivot being common to both tabs, and serving also to fasten the tabs to said plate, whereby the plate may be readily attached to the buckle and securely held thereon and removed therefrom and the tabs set properly, regardless of the position of buttons ot' the waist-band, shape ofthe wearer, Snc.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a plate which is formed with a loop or hook, B,
and() represents a suspender-buckle, o n the bottom cross-bar or loop, a, of which the plate A is hung.
D represents suspender-tabs, which are connected to the plate A by a pivot, b, which is passed through the plate and tabs, and properly secured by heading, clinching, &c., whereby the pivot firmly connects the tabs and plate and permits the tabs to turn on the pivot, one tab being shorter than the other.
In order to securely connect the plate A to (No model.)
the buckle, said plate is formed or provided with a spring tongue or snap, E, which closes the end of the hook and prevents the displacement ofthe hook. It will be seen that the plate may be readily sprung or snapped on the buckle, thus firmly connecting the buckle and tabs, and by forcing back the tongue, so as to uncover the end thereof', the platek Inay be removed from the buckle, and the tabs thus disconnected from the buckle'without disturbing the webbing or straps. Furthermore, the tabs may be spread relatively to distances between buttons and shifted, so that the long tab is to the right and the short one to the left, or vice versa, and they may thus be adjusted to the position of the buttons, direction of the waistband, shape of the body of the wearer, 85e.
I am aware that suspender-trimmings have been provided with attaching-hooks and securing spring-tongues. I am also aware that eyelets and pivots are common in various devices. I am also aware that tabs of suspenders have been pivoted to the plate which depends from the buckle, and the pivot is common to both tabs, wherefore I disclaim said features broadly.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Theimprovedsuspender-trimming formed of the plate A, provided with the hook B, the pivot and fastening b, and the spring-tongue E, and the tabs D D, said pivot and fasteningb being common to both tabs, the parts being constructed, combined, and operating substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
