ARTHUR A. FELIX, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO SAMUEL FRIEDMAN AND ADOLF MAYER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., A COPARTNERSHIP.
BELT-BUCKLE ATTAGI-HEENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July '7, 1908.
Application filed February 7, 1908. Serial No. 414,669.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR A. FELIX, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt-Buckle Attachments, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.
My invention relates to an attachment for belt buckles and has for its object to produce an inexpensive and efficient means for securely holding the buckle of the belt in its place when worn. This attachment is constructed in such a manner so that it may readily be introduced into the loop surrounding the buckle of any belt, where, by reason of its peculiar construction, it requires no effort to hold it in place.
Figure 1, illustrates a front elevation view of a belt buckle embodying my invention. Fig. 2, is a longitudinal section, showing the device attached to the hook, secured to one Fig. 3, is another longitudinal section, showing my device attached to a button which is sometimes substituted in place of the hook. Fig. 1, illustrates a front elevation of my attachment, detached.
Similar numerals indicate like parts in the drawings.
I have illustrated my device as applied to the usual style of belt buckle, consisting of the frame 1, and the tongue 2, to which the leather strap 3, is attached over which the fastening loop 4, slides.
My invention consists of a peculiarly bent wire clip or fastener, shown detached in Fig. 4 of the drawin s (and bearing the numeral 5, in the other gures), which is introduced into the slot formed in that portion of the leather strap 6, where the tongue of the buckle is attached to the rear portion of the frame, where my clip is securely held in place by means of its outwardly bent ends.
All trousers are either provided with a -a clip hook and loop 7, or a button and button hole 8, attached to the front flaps 9, and 10, of the trousers, so that the upper front portion thereof may be kept closed, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings.
The operation of my device is as follows. Assuming that my device is attached to a belt as shown in Fig. 1, and that the wearer of same desires to securely fasten the buckle, so as to avoid the annoyance of the buckle constantly shifting, which is particularly liable to happen when the wearer is engaged in walking or playing such games as golf, tennis, etc., he unfastens the upper front portion of his trousers held together by the hook and loop 7, or the button and buttonhole 8, and slips the clip or fastener 5, either over said hook or button, as the case may be and then simply rehooks or rebuttons the trousers; the clip remaining in between, where, on account of its thinness and small- The belt ness, it causes no obstruction. may now be closed or fastened 1n the usual manner. To remove the belt it is simply necessary to reverse the steps.
It is obvious that my device may be made in any suitable shape, which accomplishes the same object, and of any suitable material, and I therefore do not desire to limit myself to the particular triangular form shown, but
What I desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In combination with a belt, a belt buckle, that is attachable to the buckle by the loop of the belt and embodying a loop for attachment to the hook or button on a garment worn under the belt.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my handin the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ARTHUR A. FELIX.
