SUSPENDING DEVICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 391.450, dated October 23, 1888.
- Application tiled August 15. 1888. Serial No. 282,817. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SIMON URIEL BRAN- STETTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vandalia, in the county of Audrain and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in suspending Devices; andIdo hereby declare thatthefollowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification. and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of my improved device, showing it connected to the waistband'of a garment and one of the tongues of a suspender attached to the device; and Fig. 2, a detail View in perspective of the device with one of the wires partly broken away.
The present invention has for its object to provide a device to be used for securing garments on the wearer, and to take the place of buttons commonly in use for securing thereto suspenders, which object I attain by the de vice constructed substantially as shown in the drawings, and hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Fig. 1, A represents a portion of a waistband of a pair of pants or other garment, having a hole, a, protected by an eyelet, d, for attaching thereto the suspending device, as shown at B, and to the device" is connected the tongue of a pair of suspenders.
The device is constructed of spring-wire,and is formed of a single piece, the wire being bent double to form a loop, 0, and its ends bent upon itself to form a shank, e, the extremities terminating in a hook, Z1, disposed at an angle of about thirty degrees. The loop is bent inwardly on a curve, as shown, and extends down below and over the hook, and the extremities of the wire forming the hook may be soldered together. The loop 0 increases in width toward its end, and its shape forms a very secure means of attaching thereto the tongue of a suspcnder.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The suspending device 13, formed of springwire from a single piece and bent to form a hook, I), and inwardly-curved loop a, said loop extending down below and over the hook, substantiall y as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
SIMON URIEL BRANSTETTER.
