Definitions

  • the present disclosure relates to a cosmetic case, and more particularly to a cosmetic case including a main body containing a cosmetic, a lid to open and close the main body, a mirror attached to the inner surface of the lid, and a protective sheet serving as a separator between the main body and the mirror.
  • cosmetic cases including a main body, a lid, a mirror, and a protective sheet, as described above, are known, as taught in Patent Literature 1 and 2 (Japanese Patent No. 4216619 and Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 2007-167341, respectively), for example.
  • the protective sheet prevents the mirror attached to the inner surface of the lid from being smudged with a cosmetic, such as a foundation, contained in the main body.
  • the conventional cosmetic cases as described above may include information, which shows how to handle the cosmetic or the cosmetic case, on a portion of the protective sheet serving as a separator between the main body and the mirror, as taught in Patent Literature 1.
  • one portion (a fixed section) of the protective sheet is fixed to the main body at a position between the inner tray containing a cosmetic and the main body, and the other portion (a separator section) of the protective sheet connected to the one portion serves as a separator between the main body and the mirror.
  • the conventional cosmetic cases arranged as described above have the following problems.
  • the present disclosure is directed to providing a cosmetic case that allows easily moving the separator section of the protective sheet with one hand and reduces possibility of the finger or hand of the user being smudged with the cosmetic.
  • a cosmetic case according to the disclosure comprises:
  • a main body comprising a container for containing a cosmetic
  • a lid coupled to the main body such that the main body is openable and closable with the lid
  • a protective sheet comprising a portion serving as a separator between the main body and the mirror
  • the protective sheet comprises a fixed sheet section at least partially fixed between the lid and the mirror, and a separator sheet section foldably connected to the fixed sheet section such that the separator sheet section is positioned between the main body and the mirror when the main body is closed with the lid.
  • separator sheet section being “foldably connected to the fixed sheet section” encompasses both the cases where the separator sheet section is directly foldably connected to the fixed sheet section and where the separator sheet section is indirectly foldably connected to the fixed sheet section via another sheet section.
  • the protective sheet of the cosmetic case of the disclosure comprise an intermediate section extending between the fixed sheet section and the separator sheet section along an end face of the mirror and has a substantially U-shaped cross-section.
  • the fixed sheet section and the separator sheet section be connected to each other on the left side of the mirror.
  • the “left side” in this case refers to the left side of the mirror on the open lid viewed from the main body side while the main body is held in a substantially horizontal orientation in a usual manner when the cosmetic case is used.
  • At least the separator sheet section of the protective sheet comprise a transparent material.
  • the separator sheet section be deformable with an external force to a position outside an area between the main body and the mirror.
  • the separator sheet section is substantially rectangular, it is desirable that at least one of two corners of an edge of the separator sheet section opposite from an edge of the separator sheet section connected to the fixed sheet section be filleted or chamfered.
  • the separator sheet section comprise a recess for avoiding interference with a protrusion of the main body when the separator sheet section is folded relative to the fixed sheet section.
  • the protective sheet includes a fixed sheet section at least partially fixed between the lid and the mirror and a separator sheet section foldably connected to the fixed sheet section such that the separator sheet section is positioned between the main body and the mirror when the main body is closed with the lid, the separator sheet section prevents the mirror from being smudged with the cosmetic contained in the main body, as with conventional devices.
  • the protective sheet having the above-described arrangement allows easily moving the separator sheet section of the protective sheet with one hand while the main body is held by the one hand. The reason will be described in detail later with reference to embodiments.
  • the information is positioned in the vicinity of the mirror. This allows the user to easily see the information while doing makeup while looking at the mirror.

Still alternatively, the fixed sheet section 20 a can be fixed to the lid 12 by ultrasonic joining, etc.
  • FIG. 4 shows a state where the lid 12 is set in the open position, as described previously.

That is, when the lid 12 is in the closed position, the separator sheet section 20 c is positioned between the main body 11 and the mirror 18 , thereby preventing the mirror 18 from being smudged with the cosmetics 16 and 17 .
  • the separator sheet section 20 c in the state shown in FIG. 1 is swung by flipping the edge 20 d of the separator sheet section 20 c with the thumb P of the left hand M, for example, and pushing and opening the separator sheet section 20 c into a position where the front side of the mirror 18 is open, as shown in FIG. 4 . That is, at this time, the separator sheet section 20 c is deformed to a position outside an area between the main body 11 and the mirror 18 . This allows the user to do makeup using the cosmetic 16 or 17 , or a makeup tool, if the makeup tool is contained in the receptacle 11 b or 11 c , as described previously, while looking at the mirror 18 .

  • the separator sheet section 20 c is moved to a position where the separator sheet section 20 c faces the mirror 18 , and then the lid 12 is closed.
  • This arrangement reduces possibility of the finger of hand of the user being smudged with the cosmetics 16 and 17 , when compared to conventional devices where the separator sheet section 20 c is moved to a position where the separator sheet section 20 c faces the cosmetics 16 and 17 .
  • the mirror 18 is significantly larger than the inner trays 14 and 15 . Fixing the fixed sheet section 20 a to the back side of the mirror 18 allows a wider adhesion space, welding space, or the like, to fix the fixed sheet section 20 a , thereby allowing stable adhesion of the protective sheet 20 .
  • the two corners 20 e and 20 f of the separator sheet section 20 c are filleted, thereby protecting the user's hand or finger from the two corners 20 e and 20 f . Since the corners 20 e and 20 f of the separator sheet section 20 c are positioned farthest from the folding line between the separator sheet section 20 c and the intermediate section 20 b , it is highly possible that the corners 20 e and 20 f contact the cosmetics 16 and 17 when the separator sheet section 20 c is deformed. However, filleting or chamfering the corners 20 e and 20 f is useful to avoid such contact to prevent the separator sheet section 20 c from being smudged.
