U NITED S TATES CYRUS J. ALBERT, OF GROVELAHD, CALIFORNIA.
COMBINATION UNION SUIT AND SUPPORTER.
Application filed April 1, 1926.
This invention relates to an improved union suit wherein the crotch piece is equipped with supporting straps and used as a supporter thereby obviating the need of an independent supporter as ordinarily used.
It is an object of this invention to provide an article of male underwear with supporting straps connected to the crotch pieces of the underwear to permit the crotch pieces to be used as a supporter.
It is an important object of this invention to provide an undergarment with straps connected to the crotch pieces of the garment to permit the crotch pieces to be used as a supporter pouch when the straps are connected to attaching means on the waist or body portion of the garment.
Other and further important objects of this invention will be apparent from the disclosures in the specification and accompanying drawings.
The invention (in a preferred form) is illustrated in the accompanying drawings and hereinafter more fully described.
On the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front view of a man wearing an improved suit of underwear constructed to afford a supporter embodying the principles of this invention.
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary portion of a suit of underwear showing an enlarged detail view of the crotch supporter.
Figure 8 is an enlarged fragmentary detail section taken on line IIIIII of Figure 1.
As shown on the drawings:
The reference numeral 1 indicates a man wearing an improved union suit, or garment 2, which is provided with an under crotch piece 3, and an upper or overlapping crotch piece 4. Secured at 5 to the marginal portion of the overlapping crotch piece 4 is one end of a supporting strap 6, which slidably passes beneath a guide strip or strap 7, the ends of which are secured to the leg or body portion of the suit of underwear adjacent the crotch portion stitching, as clearly illustrated in Figure 2. Secured to the waist or body portion of the union suit 2, at a convenient location on the front left side of the garment, looking at Figure 2, is a buckle or retaining member 8 adapted to receive the free end of the supporting strap 6 Se- Serial No. 98,942.
cured at 9 to the marginal portion of the under crotch piece 3 is one end of another retaining strap or tape 10 which passes through a slot 11 provided in the outer crotch piece 4, adjacent the stitched portion thereof. The free end of the supporter strap 10 is adapted to be removably engaged in a buckle or other suitable retaining means 12 secured at a convenient point on the front right hand portion of the waist section of the undergarment looking at Figure 2. The overlapping front portions of the crotch pieces 3 and 4t, afford a support-er pouch 13.
A person wearing a suit of the improved underwear puts the same on in the usual manner and then engages the free end of the strap or tape 6 in the buckle 8, and pulls the same up an amount necessary to bring one end portion of the supporter pouch against the body of the person. The second strap 10 which projects through the slot 11 is engaged in the buckle 12, and pulled up and secured in place to properly secure the other side of the supporter pouch 18 in place. It will thus be seen that the overlapping portions of the crotch pieces 3 and 4 of the union suit are equipped with straps 6 and 10 the ends of which are adapted to be pulled through buckles 8 and 12 respectively, or adapted to be secured to but-tons or any other suitable fastening means which may be secured to the front side portions of the waist section of the undergarment. With the crotch portion of the undergarment used as a supporting pouch it will be unnecessary to use an independent crotch supporter now widely in use.
I am aware that many changes may be made and numerous details of construction may be varied through a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention, and I therefore do not purpose limiting the patent granted hereon otherwise than necessitated by the prior art.
I claim as my invention:
An improved undergarment comprising a union suit. an under crotch piece and an outer crotch piece forming a part thereof, a strap having one. end thereof secured to said outer crotch piece, a guide strap secured to the body of the union suit to serve as a guide for said supporting strap, fastening means secured to the front waist portion at one side of the union suit adapted to receive the supporting strap, a second supporting strap having one end thereof secured to the under crotch piece, said upper crotch piece having a slot therein through which said second supporting strap projects, and a retaining member on the opposite front side of the Waist section of the union suit to receive the second supporting strap, said supporting straps adapt-ed to be tensioned to cause the overlapping portions of said crotch pieces to be used as a supporter.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name.
CYRUS J. ALBERT.
