Description

1. M. REGAN. GARMENT SUPPORTER- APPLICATION FILED MAR. 26. I920.
INVENTOR krroanzv Patented Sept. 14,1920.
A UNITED STATES PATENT o c JUL IA lvl. REG N, QLFDARBY, rENnsYLvANIA.
GARMENT-SUIPORTER.
To all whom it may concern: 1 Be it known that I, JULIA M. REGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Darby, in the county of Delaware and State ofv Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specification; 7 j This invention relates to garmentsupporters and comprehends the provision of a combination diaper and hose supporter which is simple in construction and can be manufactured and sold at a nominal cost.
The invention is designed to secure together the overlapped extremities of the diaper, and to also secure the overlapped edges of the diaper adjacent each limb of the wearer, and to be readily and easily connected to or detached from the adjacent end of the hose.
In carrying out my invention, I provide for an adjustment of the hose supporter with respect to the diaper fastener means, and also provide for the separation of these parts so that the hose supporter can be dispensed with when socks are worn by the infant.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the fol lowing detail description is taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming part of this application like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in'the several views and wherein:
Figure l is an elevation of the invention showing the same associated with a diaper.
Fig. 2 is a view of the invention removed from the diaper.
Fig. 3 is av longitudinal sectional view taken through one of the divergent straps as shown in Fig. 2.
Fig. 4: is a fragmentary View showing the hose supporter separated from the diaper attaching means.
Referring to the drawing in detail, A indicates generally a diaper of the usual wellknown construction, the ends of which are overlapped as at B.
The device forming the subject matter of my invention consists of a loop 10 formed from a single length of fabric folded upon Application filed March 26, 1920. Serial No. 368.959.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept, 1920.
itself and having its free ends stitched'or otherwise suitably secured, together. I 'The same stitching 11 secures-to the loop 10 the adjacent endsof-a pair of divergently disposed straps 12, which may be elastic or inelastic as desired. The straps 12may also vary in dimension, each beingfolded upon itself at an appropriate point in its length 1 and stitched to provide a loop-13 which'is arranged transversely of the strap and opened at bothends .at the longitudinal edges of the strap. The corresponding eX- tremities of the respective straps are again folde'd'upon'themselves to provide end loops 14 each of which has associated therewith and supports a buckle of wellknown con struction indicated at 15. Adjustably associated with each buckle 15 is a hose supporter including an elastic tape 16 of the single or double suspension type, each suspension having a hose'gripof the wellknown construction, including the member 17 having the usual key-holev slot 18 for the reception of the headed element 19 carried by the tape 20. The loop 10 receives a safety pin 21 of wellknown construction having an offset portion 22 so that it is always held associated with the loop 10. ,A pin of similar construction is received by each of the loops* 13 of the strap 12, these pins being indicated at 28. V
In use of the invention the pin 21 is utilized to secure together the overlapped extremities of the diaper indicated at B in Fig. 1. The straps 12 are suspended from the loop 10 in divergent relation and the overlapped edges of the diaper are secured together by means of the pins 23 as shown.
When the hose are worn by the infant, the hose are gripped in the usual manner by the hose supporter. The supporter can be adjusted to the comfort of the wearer by means of the buckle 15. By reason of the detachable connection between the hose supporters and the straps 12, the hose supporters can be dispensed with when their use is not desired, as for instance when the infant is provided with socks. The construction is such that the diaper is not only held in its proper place, but the hose are also properly supported by the same device. There will also be noted that when it is necessary to change the diaper or the hose, or both, the
parts can be separated from the device forming the subject matter of the invention,dur-
ing which time the .pins 21 and 23 remain in position, thereby eliminating all possibility of the pins being lost or otherwise misplaced.
WVhile it is believed that from the forecomprising a loop, .a pin associated With the loop, a pair of divergently disposed straps suspended from said loop, a pin carried by each strap, and hose supporting -means suspended fromthe free end of each strap.
2. A su-pporter of the character described 7 comprising-a loop, a pin associated with said loop, a pair of divergently dispo'sedstraps suspended from said loop, a: pin carried by each strap, andhose supporting means ad justably and detachably associated-with the free ends of each strap. V
3. A supporter of the character described 'comprisingra loop, a pin associated with said loop, a pair of divergently disposed straps suspended from said loop, a pin carried by each strap, the free end of each strap being folded upon itself to provide a loop, a buckle carried by each of the latter mentioned loops, and hose supporting means adjustably and detachably associated with said buckles.
4c. Asupporter of the character described means associated with saidloop, divergently disposed. straps suspended :fromsaidloop,
each strap being folded to provideia transversely. arranged loop, a pinwassociate'd with each of the latter mentioned loops, and hose supporting means detachably and adjustably associated with the corresponding free endsof said straps.
