BELT.
Application filed. February 13, 1922. Serial No. 536,197.
Houston, in the county of Harris and tate of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Belt, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in abelt.
One object of the invention is to provide a belt specially designed for the purpose of being permanently secured to the wa st of a skirt, or imilar garment for supporting the same. 7
Another object of the invention is to provide a belt which is provided with a secure fastening means which will prevent the belt from becoming loose.
Another object of the invention is to provide a belt of the character described having one or more elastic inserts, making the of the body it overlaps and causes belt elastic, conducing to comfort and adaptins the belt to bodies of different sizes and to different types of dress.
Another object of the invention is to pro- I vide a belt having a comparatively wide rear section which tends to hold the garment in place and prevent itfrom slipping from the waist line as well as preventing the garment from sagging. Furthermore, this wide rear section improves the contour of that part the sklrt to fall in a straight line.
Another object of the invention resldes 1n the provision of a device of the character desci ibed which is of simple construction and may be cheaply and easily manufac- Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a skirt or similar garment having the usual side,
opening 2. The belt is composed of a front section 3 and a rear section 4 connected at one side by the elastic straps 5, 5. The sections 8 and 4 are preferably formed of reinforced fabric and are constructed of strong material of sufficient stiffness to retain their shape. The free endof the front section 2 has the hooks 6, 6 and the free end of the section 4: has the eyes 7 7 adapted to engage with said hooks to securely hold the belt around the body. These hooks and eyes are securely fastened to the belt so as to prevent their easy detachment'and to hold the garment securely on the wearer. Near its free end the section 4 has elastic inserts 8, 8 to add elasticity to the belt thereby making it more comfortable and causing it to fit closely the contour of the body. Thesection 4 is widened downwardly forming a wing 9 which flares slightly downwardly and gives a more uniform contour forming a wide su portend preventing the belt and sklrt from and at the same time causlng the skirt to fall in a straighterline from its point of support l v hat I claim is: I p A belt for skirts and the like including a comparatively narrow front section, and a rear section, said sections being secured to g'ether permanently at one end, interengaglng means carried by the other end of said sections for releasably securing the belt around the body of the wearer, an elastic section belt on each side, said rear section being widened downwardly from end to end forming a supporting wing, which extends entirely around the back of'the wearer and flared outwardly at its lower edge and forms a rear support forthe skirt.
in testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses;
LURA A. LASATER. Witnesses WM. A. CA'rnnY, Cnas. G. JOHNSON.
