INVENTOR A TTOH/VEV CQLUMBXA PLANOGRAPH 120.. WASHINGTON, n. C.
JOSEPH A. KOVESY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PURSE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 21, 1915.
Application filed August 27, 1914. Serial No. 858,820.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J OSEPH A. KovEsY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Purses, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
My invention relates to gloves, mittens and the like and it has special reference to such as are provided with a purse attachment.
One object of my invention is to provide an improved device of the aforesaid character that shall be particularly arranged and adapted to securely contain coins while at the same time rendering them easily accessible when the purse is open.
Another object is to provide in addition to the interior pockets of the purse, an exterior pocket which is readily accessible when the purse is closed, a fastener or other suitable means being provided for securely holding the purse in its closed position.
Other objects and advantages of my invention will be set forth hereinafter, and I will describe my invention in the following specification and point out the novel features thereof in appended claims.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a plan view looking at the palm, of a glove arranged and equipped in accordance with my invention. The same glove is shown in section in Fig. 2. Fig. 3 is a view corresponding to Fig. 1 with the purse, which forms a part of the glove, open. Fig. 4 is a view of the back of the Wrist portion of the glove showing the fastener by which the right hand glove of the wearer may be secured to the back of the combination glove and purse.
Corresponding parts are designated by like reference characters in all the figures.
10 represents a glove, mitten or other suitable hand covering, to the palm of which is attached a purse 11 and to the back wrist portion of which is secured a fastener 12. The purse, as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 8, comprises a coin pocket 13 which is substantially elliptical in form and is adapted to lie fiat on the palm of the glove when the purse is open. It has a fastener 13 and a relatively small central opening 14; from which coins may readily be removed, but the pocket is fulled at 15 around the wrist end of the opening in order to prevent coins from accidentally sliding out when the hand of the wearer is in a raised position and the purse open. One end of the coin pocket is stitched or otherwise secured at its edges to the palm of the glove, the free end of the pocket being adapted to be folded over the secured end to close the small opening when the purse is closed. The opening of the coin pocket is described as central, as distinguished from an edge opening and as shown in the drawings, may not be located exactly in the center of the pocket.
In addition to the coin pocket, the purse comprises an outer section or flap 16 which is secured to the palm of the glove on a transverse line at 17 under the free end of the coin pocket, so that it may be folded over the coin pocket to close the purse. The outer section or flap has secured to it a fastener 20 which cooperates with the fastener 13 of the pocket. The flap has two pockets, one on its inner face, designated 18 and one on its outer face, designated 19. The one on its inner face is closed when the purse is closed, but the one on its outer face is available for use without opening the purse.
The purse may be made of leather or any other suitable material to correspond to that of the glove itself. Of course, if desired, the purse may be formed of one material and the glove of another material, although it will usually be preferable to have the purse correspond with the glove in order that it may be less conspicuous.
The fastener 12 which is secured to the back wrist portion of the glove, will be found of great convenience as a means for securing the glove of the other hand to the wrist portion of the glove which carries the purse, the purse being ordinarily attached to the left hand glove, the right hand glove of the wearer may be removed and secured so that it cannot be lost.
My invention is not restricted to the specific arrangement illustrated, and I desire that only such limitations be imposed as are indicated in the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. A coin purse for a glove comprising a fiat elliptical coin pocket adapted to be secured to the glove near its edges at one end and with its other end detached, extending when open from the fingers toward the wrist portion of the glove and having a relatively small central opening protected by a flange extending completely around the opening glove and adapted to be folded over the coin pocket, the free end of said coin pocket being adapted to be folded over the body of the coin pocket with the flap.
2. A coin purse for a glove comprising a .s fiat elliptical coin pocket having a central opening and adapted to be secured near one end at its edges to the palm of the glove and with its opposite end free, and an outer flap having an inner and outer pocket adapted to'be secured transversely to the palm of the glove and arranged to be folded over the coin pocket, the free end of said coin pocket being adapted to be folded over the body of the coin pocket with the flap, the outer pocketof said flap being available when the purse is closed.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 25th day of August 1914:, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
v V JOSEPH A. KOVESY.
