To all whom it may concern.'

Be it known that I, GRovER BLAND LACH, "a citizen of the United States, residing at Tampa,.Hillsbor`ougli county, and State of Florida, have invented and discovered certain newA and useful Improvements in Key Pouches, of which the following is a specification.

My said invention consists in an improved form of ey holding wallet `or pouch and in the consyruction and arrangement of the parts thereof, whereby such a device is provided adapted to containl the keys and key holding ineans in such a manner as to protect the keys from rust under the influence of moisture or perspiration thrown oif by the body of the wearer, protect the pockets ofthe garments in which the keys are carried from undue wear, and enable the keys to be disposed in fixed relative position on the holding means, as well as to provide for their convenient and ready placing on the carrier or removal therefrom, all as will be hereinafter more fully 'described and claimed. l

In said drawings the portions marked A represent the pouch, B a metal bar forming the base of the key carrying device, and C the chain on'which the keys are carried.

The pouch A is preferably a piece of leather, or other appropriate flexible material, doubled and adapted to be secured together at its free edges by fasteners of the type commonly referred to as glove fas- ESG toners, consisting of sockets and 11 secured to one side, into which heads of buttons 12 and 13, secured to the ,other side, are

adapted to be inserted.

y The key chain C, or other appropriate iexible holder, is mounted at one end on the rivet lfland at its other end is provided with a large link 19 adapted to pass over the hook 16.

The hook 16 is so positioned in relation to the pivoted member 17 that the sharp edge on the adjacent side of lug 18 will be engaged by the' notch in the adjacent edge of said hook 16.and the member 17 thus held in the position shown in Fig. 1 and in whole lines in Fig. 2, in which position the link 19 ofthe chain C'willbe secured on said hook. Hook 16, however, is of slightly resilient material and is adapted to rspring sufficiently to allow member 17 to be turned on its pivot, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, when the upper end of hook 16 will be opened and the chain 19 may be readily freed therefrom for the purpose of receiving keys or permitting them to be removed therefrom. Said hook 16 has a square shoulder, or olf-set, 26 in its rear face near its top which serves to prevent anyupward pull on the chain accidentally disengaging l,the latch.

In use, the outer flap of the pouch A is secured to the opposite iap by means of the -glove fastener devices, above described, thus completely inclosing and surrounding the keys and protecting them from the wearer as Well as protecting the clothing from the wear consequent uponcontact with the keys. l

By this means the user is enabled to soon become familiar with the position of any key on the chain or holder so that, regardless of its similarity vto other keys thereon, he may readily select it in the dark or without visible observation, when desired for use. This feature adds materially to the vvalue and convenience of the device, and the means for the ready removal and replacing of the keys, as Well as for securing them againstaccidental displacement, alladd to the advantages of the device in use.

A perforation E27 may be provided in bar B for the attachment'of a chain, when desired, and it will be obvious that the form and style of the pouch may lbe varied to appeal to different tastes or accommodate different needs Without departing from my invention as vdefined in the claims hereto appended. While I have shown and described the ease as composed of a single piece of leather or fabric, of course, two or more pieces might be sewed together, or otherwise united, to secure similar results.

Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

l. A key pouch consisting of a flexible casing with means for detachably securing its free edges together, a base bar attached thereto, a chain secured at one end to said base bar, a hook on said base bar at its other end, and a pivoted latch mounted adjacent to said hook and adapted to `engage therewith by a yielding connection, substantially as set forth.

2. A key pouch comprising an inclosure case, a base bar mounted therein, aflexible member on said base bar, a hook with which one end of said flexible member is adapted to engage, and a latch for retaining said flexible member on said; hook, substantially as set forth. l

3. A key pouch comprising an inclosing case, a bar attached thereto, a fiexible support attached to said bar at one end, ay hook adjacent to the other end of said bar, means for mounting the other end of said flexible member on said hook, and a pivoted latch for engaging said hook and retaining said iexible member thereon, substantially as set forth.
