Description
E. A. MONFORT. ATTACHMENT FOR GLOVES AND CUFF GLOVES.
APPLICATION FILED DEC. 9, I918- I Patented July-8, 1919.
THE caLuMnu. PIA-1002RPM '50.. WASHINGTON, D. c.
EDGAR A. MONFORT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
ATTACHMENT FOR GLOVES AND CUFF-GLOVES.
Specification of Letters Iatent.
Patented July 8, 1919.
Application filed. December 9, 1918. Serial No. 265,929.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDGAR A. Monron'r, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Attachment for Gloves and Gul Gloves, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings by similar characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new and useful improvement to be worn on the back of a glove. The object is to provide a means of holding a mirror, con'ipass, or watch, on the back of a glove in order that the wearer can see the face of the compass and be able to tell at all times in what direction he wishes to travel.
The watch is conveniently placed on the back of the glove, for ready use in telling the time, by merely glancing at back of glove, and the mirror affords the means of adjusting the hair, hat and veil at the convenience of the wearer.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a gloved hand showing the device.
Fig. 2 is a side view of the glove, partly in sect-ion, and
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view through the wrist encircling portion of the glove showing the device in an open position.
Iiefering to the drawings the numeral 1 designates a. flap or tongue which is secured to the wrist encircling portion of a glove 2, in any preferred manner. provided with a suitable socket l, which is idapted. to receive the stud 5, attached to the tongue, and when said tongue is folded back in the manner illustrated in Fig. 2, it will be held by means of the fastening elements l and 5.
The tongue and wrist encircling portion of the glove are each pierced to receive a threaded stem 7 of a watch, compass or mirror 3 as clearly shown in Fig. 3. A disk 6 having an internal threaded aperture is threaded on the stem 7 and thus clamps the This tongue is mirror, watch, compass or other article in place.
From the foregoing it will be evident that the tongue when folded into a position as shown in Fig, 2 will completely cover the face of the article 3, thereby protecting the same.
Having described my invention what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, the combination with a glove, of a tongue sccured near one end to said glove, the tongue and glove being pierced, an article, a stem on the article extending through the opening in said glove and tongue, and means cooperating with the stem to secure the same in place, and the tongue being adapted to be folded over the article to cover the same.
2. In a device of the class described the combination with a glove, of a tongue secured near one end to said glove, the tongue and glove being pierced, an article, a stem on the article extending through the opening in said glove and tongue, and means cooperating with the stem to secure the same in place, the tongue being adapted to be folded over the article to cover the same, and means for securing the tongue over the article.
3. The combination with a glove having a wrist encircling portion, of a tongue secured at one end to the wrist encircling portion, a fastener element at the free end of the tongue, a cooperating fastening element on the wrist encircling portion, the tongue and wrist encircling portion being provided with alining apertures, a stem extending through the apertures, an article attached to the outer end of the stem to be covered by the tongue, and a disk threaded onto the stem to secure the article in place.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this sixth day of December, 1918.
EDGAR A. MONFORT. lVitnesses MARY It. MoNFoR'r, ALICE C. ROBERTSON.
