Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 2, 1916. Serial No. 123,424.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROSALIND EMILY HAMILTON OREILLY, a subject of His Majesty the King of England, and resident of Victoria street, in the city of Westminster, Kingdom of England, have invented certain new and useful Improved Hand- Coverings, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in hand coverings of the kind comprising a hood which is formed With a slit to permit the release of the hand therethrough.-
The invention is hereinafter described Copies of this patent may be obtained for The object of this invention is to provide workers exposed to cold such as soldiers in trenches with one simple hand covering which may always be kept on and therefore not easily be mislaid.
This invention differs from others of the kind to which it relates in that the slit is longitudinal, not transverse; yet is not placed at the wrist but above it and in the direction of the length of the fingers. An advantage in the use of my hand covering as illustrated is that the hand can release itself without any assistance.
What I claim is A hand covering having a longitudinal slit in its body portion, and flaps extending from opposite edges of the slit, each flap extending beyond the free edge of the other to form a closure when the thumb of the wearer is inclosed.
